I dont usually drive 10000km within 6 months. Do most people here stick with Toyota recommendation of six monthly service or 10000Kms ?
I have an eleven years old Toyota Echo which I service every 10000 km or once a year if I drove less than 10000 that year. It never gave me single problem.

Depends whether you want to keep your fixed price servicing and warranty. On a $70,000+ vehicle surely $210 twice a year for servicing isn't breaking the bank,

Totally agree. Also depends on where you live, as the oils get affected by the weather even if the car is not driven enough. I want my warranty so I will service every 6 months even though my car does 8000kms a year

I do about 40,000km's per year...

        That's a service every 3 months.

Toyota will get their money worth from me!

I go through 8-10 services a year... It hurts.

Thanks for the replies. I just feel as if I am over servicing the car. My previous diesel Bmw which uses syntetic oil only "alert" for service every 28000-30000km which equivalent to about 2 years of driving. Considering the service cost is about $650, it is actually cheaper to service a Bimmer, unlike common believes.

Remember that if the reason you are doing low Km's is only doing short trips, that the engine does not get time to heat up and burn off the impurities in the oil that are generated prior to warming up. In this case the 6 monthly servicing is essential to the longevity of your engine. That's my two bobs worth anyway.

Fixed price service @ $210 is about the price of a tank of fuel so worth keeping up with schedule regardless of kms

                  That's a fair comparison. Thanks
