  • Less than wo weeks old - then this happened

Got this in Market Square -Sunnybank QLD while my vehicle was parked. Notorious parking place. Do you think I should repair this or go straight to steel bull bars. Though I still got some marks above the bullbar cut line.

the first one always hurts, especially when it's not your own fault.

I'd personally go straight to a steel bar and not worry too much about the bit above the cut line.

    They're only cars right?

Damn. Pretty good excuse to go straight to the bull bar if you ask me. If you can get any CCTV footage from the shopping centre then you should put it through your insurer as the repair cost to the bumper might take a decent chunk out of the cost of the bull bar.

If you're still not happy about the scratches above the bullbar line, or not quite ready for a bullbar (although this experience should be perfect justification to get one straight away), you could always try one of those mobile bumper repair mobs (dent doctor or Touch-up guy). Costs often less than your excess. They come to you and usually only take a couple of hours... Do a search on mobile bumper repairs.

I'd be asking your local TJM/ARB/etc. if they have any bars from cars that have had full bumper replacement bull bars installed in that colour.

Yes perfect excuse for a B/B , but know the feeling, got the wife a brand new Hyundai and some motherless, intellectually challenged, devoid of consciousness, bar steward scraped all up the front of her car and of course WE have to pay $350 excess and they wouldn't give a toss mate, believe me when I'm president there WILL be changes.................

I'd go for the bull bar, but don't forget the front springs at the same time, I didn't and mine has dropped a fair bit in 40k

Get a bullbar, then some driving lights, a winch, UHF, and a lift kit. Youll never notice the scratch after that.

Thanks for your inputs guys. I am thinking that I would leave it as it is for the next three months while I re-build my finance (after initial deposit, insurance, towbar and windows tint) before deciding to go bull bar or touch-up fix.
At the this stage the missus does not like the look of bull bar but asked for a nudge bar instead, which is not my liking.

Had the same battle with my wife over Bullbar! Compromised with the Sahara bar. Have a troll through all the Rig builds (theres also a thread on 150 Bullbars ) You never know, she might come round! Remind the missus that a nudge bar isn't going to offer any protection from those drivers at Market Square, Hong Kong. Ooh I mean Sunnybank!

Sahara bar looks like the in between compromise. I wander if it is any cost saving between the Sahara and the Deluxe. Sorry starting to go off topic.

Your thread mate... Just been down the path of having to contact a bumper repair mob. Although I'm going down the insurance company path, I think you'll be surprised how good a job can be achieved at an affordable price by these guys...
