  • Time for some love

    G'Day All,
Just come back from my first long trip in my prado. Loved it especially towing the Jayco Swan van. Seemed like it wasn't there. Now I am back I think it is time that I spent a bit of time cleaning it up and giving it a polish.

Just wondering what polish people recommend as I have no idea. Doesn't really matter the price as it is a expensive car so I want to look after it as it has to last me a LONG time.

    Cheers

Don't bother polishing it unless it has fine scratches. I'm assuming it's a reasonably a late model prado, so how bad is the paint? . If it is ok, leave it as it is. The paint finish won't come up that much better, if at all anyway. You will just get polish residue in places you won't be able to totally remove and it will look shit house. Just my opinion. cheers.

I have been washing 4wds for 12 years by spraying with truck wash, brushing it up and then use a pressure washer. This leaves a residue that helps prevent dirt sticking and seems to prevent the worst of the scratches (glossy/slippery like polished paintwork), also cleans where you can't reach like panel joins. Kept the last vehicle for seven years and it still looked very smart in spite of the best efforts of the bush and it never saw any polish.
