GX Heater / de-mister question

Winter is coming and last night we seriously used the heater for the first time on our new GX. We found that the car was rather hot and stuffy. On checking I found that hot air comes out of the de-mister vent (correctly) when you choose the combined foot/de-mister setting but that hot air still comes out of the de-mister vent when you choose the foot only setting. It seem like the de-mister is not being shut off when choosing the foot only setting. The de-mister does correctly shut off if you choose a face setting.

I plan to discuss this with my toyota dealer but I was wondering if other GX (non - climate control air conditioning) owners could advise if their de-mister airflow closes off when the air to feet only setting is chosen.

Took the car to the dealer, it turns out that it is just the way it is. They showed me that the picture in the manual for where the air goes show that when the "foot" setting is selected; air is also directed to the de-mister vents and the side vents. I am not sure how the combined "foot and de-mister" setting is any different from the plain "foot" setting.

The dealer was very good, not at all annoyed with me wasting their time. After going through the manual with me they still put the car in the workshop and connected it to the computer just to make sure that there wasn't any problems. Yes, the connection from the air-cond controls to the blower/damper system is checked via a computer.
