  • Warranty work .... what have you had done?

This my list so far for a Kakadu 150 series late 2009 model.

    1. All door hinges replaced - 2 visits
    2. Rear door hinge replaced - 5 visits
    3. Transmission assembly - 2 visits ( left wiring not connected and nearly severed my cb radio cable
    4. Reset KDSS suspension, car was leaning to one side noticiably - 5 visits and 4 days away in Rockhampton
    5. KDSS warning light now coming on - to date 2 visits and told I have to see another dealer as they don't have expertise or equipment to fix problem. Complained and asked to see management, suppose to get a call Monday 28 May to discuss
    6. Drivers leather seat replaced twice - 5 visits in total.
    7. Purchased seat covers, toyota to fit - didn't fit them first time as they forgot to book in leather seat replacement. 2nd time - fitted leather seat cover but forgot to fit seat covers. 3rd time fitted them but the covers come lose after a few days. 4th time could not fix covers as the seat was not wired when leather seat was put on. Car had to stay over night. After all this my 8 yr old son pointed out that the drivers side seat cover said "passenger side" and the passenger side said "drivers side". 5th visit - put seat covers on correct side. yip yah
    8. What ever else I have forgot !!!

I wished I kept a diary of dates and events, I could write a book about the service I have received !!! Good luck in topping this list !!!! By the way I hardly ever go 4 x 4 driving and when I do I reckon my wife's Hyundai Getz could almost go where I go ...... Hyundai Getz = $18000 new - zero trouble 6 years later.
2009 Prado Kakadu silver Auto with towbar. Redarc dual battery system, Redarc remote brake controller, Airtec snorkel, GME remote 3340 VHF CB radio, 12v heavy duty plug in cargo area, anderson plug to rear, ARB air compressor, Jayco swan outback 2007.

The only thing that has been done on mine by first owner prior to me buying it was aircon not cold enough so was sent back a couple of times by the husband (wife reckons it was cold enough) toyota reckons it was fine, brake shudder, bonnet rubber stops needed adjusting. Since Ive owned it, had the brake rotors machined, aircon was fixed by me but with thanks to Adrian on here (pp) now runs at what ever temp I want (currently 1c out the vents) had the recall done on the bullbar brackets thats it unless the dash starts to crack so far so good...Pretty good for 7 years old.....Cheers Steve

Rumy, mate that is shocking for a 90k plus vehicle, I wouldnt be impressed thats for sure. Presuming its D4D your probaby lucky that you havnt had more engine issues like other have had, induction vibration (maybe snorkel fixed this problem) surging issues with the auto at certian revs etc, either way not real good for a brand new vehicle, and people knock the range rovers, disco's etc,, we better be careful with what we say lol.........Cheers Steve

Because Toyota would reject a claim for a cracked dashboard anyways :P

150 D4D auto, driver side electric mirror would automatically hyperextend fully without stopping. Mechanism was replaced under waranty, but only after I stood my ground and clearly stated that it was unroadworthy the way it was.....

I must be missing something, why buy a Prado?

I've had a cracked centre console, tailshaft, worn/torn drivers floor mat and mudflaps all replaced during normal services. Excellent service, no questions asked and tailshaft was replaced at the dealers suggestion.

Service experience seems to depend on the dealer and the relationship you have with the service department.

My 2010 GX not bad so far: 2nd row centre seatbelt replaced cause it wasn't grabbing, complete RHS trim in boot replaced (plastic deformed so a clip wasn't staying in place), and the usual muguards, tailgate grease, ECU flash, dash rattle fix

We have only had the usual... Mudflaps; ECU reflash.... that's it.

I'm praying that we don't experience any of the other D4D issues that are starting to raise their heads here on PP

                        Krypto,

Why did you need your tailshaft replaced? What was the issue with it?

                        Cheers

Because I tow a larger boat and caravan and I have always wanted a Prado ....... I still have two years left on the lease but after that I am not sure what I will do. I know I won't be buying another Prado.

People here have mentioned replacement of mudflaps, is that because they are too short and causing paint damage? Were these replaced under warranty or recall or neither .... owners expense??
