  • Fuel Tank capacity

    Is anyone having issues with filling the two tanks to capacity on the new 150 altitude? after the light comes on the dash there is supposed to be aprox 22 ltr left in the tank. I filled mine today after clocking up 1398 km and could only get 104 ltrs in the tank?
    this also happened after the last fill and i went back the next day and put in another 30 + ltrs.
    I did wait for the fuel to drain down and kept squeezing the nozzel but it was taking forever and with the line up behind me decided to move on.
    Am i doing something wrong? or are others having similar issues.

    You may have been on one of the high flow pumps. I get the same result with those. With a normal pump it goes through ok.

      thanks Steve, next time i will hold the trigger half way, fill it slower and see what happens.

        I have the same issues....much more an issue filling the 150 than I did the 120

          Mr Hegs, from what I have read on this forum, you are certainly not alone, with some people having their fuel tank removed under warranty in order to rectify the problem. Have a search on the forum and you will find at least one other thread discussing this problem. Its a problem not isolated to the 150 altitude, but other 150 models as well, and in at least one instance reported, a fuel tank breather hose was found to be kinked (from what someone explained in a post). I find the last 10 litres quite slow and painful to fill, but nowehere near as bad as yourself or some others...some people have reported on here that it takes a VERY long time to fill their tanks. Also, some fuels seem to foam up more than others from what I read. Anyway....its not normal, something is not right, and it needs attention ..it may be a breather hose or a tank connection hose, but a warranty issue for sure......I hope you can find the other thread and hope you can resolve this very, very frustrating problem.

          I found the thread...its under the title "Diesel-Refuelling problem"....sorry I don't know how to put a link to this thread into my post ...try using the search function on this forum, its not perfect but should find the thread required.

            I have the same problem on all pumps I use. I have even tried the the new diesel fuel with there anti-foaming properties and still have the same problem.

                thanks Brogers, I will raise this with the dealer at my next service.
                Went back to the BP service station this morning and held the nozzel about half way.
                managed to get another 33 ltrs in the tank after only 19 km's since the last fill where
                i was only able to get 104 ltrs in the tank. there is something wrong here for sure.

                  I was about to suggest try using BP Ultimate Diesel as that is the only one that I can find that doesn't froth up as much as the Caltex/shell.... but I see u already are using BP......so that won't help u....

                  I still have issues when filling up at Shell / Caltex, but I usually try and go out of the busy times so there is no hold up on my part..... It's usually the last 5-10ltrs that is the hardest but using the scangauge at least I know when the tank is actually pretty well full when I get to what it tells me I have used.....
                  I certainly would steer away from the high flow pumps and try limiting the flow via the handle until u see just clear diesel coming out and not froth & diesel.... U could also rock the car a little bit to see if that helps

                    thanks Rob, will try going slower on the fill next time and see what happens, Only doing 600 k's a week so will be two weeks before i give it another go.
