Memory stick will not play

Its probably been done to death but a search on this forum will not reveal our problem.

I recorded CDs to our computer & copied them to a memory stick (Scan disc cruze) & they played.

Did it again from Itunes & I get a message "Not supported".

Apparently the first was recorded by Windows Media Player (mp3) & the next was MP4.
No amount of trying to get a file convertor has worked?????

I reformatted the stick to FAT 32 as suggested in the manual. Our Ipod is OK.

A perfect example of proprietary Apple software as.

If you want to play from an ipod, use the ipod. You cant copy files from an ipod to a flash drive and play them.

Copy the original Mp3 file from your computer and they will play no problems.

You can convert iTunes (M4P) to mp3 inside iTunes, I forget how but if you google "Convert iTunes Music to MP3" you'll find the answer.

I've done it a couple of times and it works well

The car player will only play MP3 format.
If you have songs in Itunes that you want to play in your car ....then within Itunes you can convert to MP3 and then copy to memory stick and should be fine.

You need to change the settings in iTunes to use MP3 format. Once you change it it will always use MP3 format

Had the same issue with our blueray player. I copied some songs just last night to a usb stick and only half played. Checked it out and seems some songs were mp3 (which were the ones that played) the others were m4a. I converted them to mp3 and all is sweet. I just made another folder up in the list on the left then converted what I wanted using the itunes tools. Mate Im useless with computers. If I can do it anyone can........High light the song/s you want, then right click, move mouse down to ""create MP3 Version"" then left click and it takes a second or two then its done. Not sure ours is set up write but it just makes a duplicate under the original song. I then move them to the folder I made up on the left under playlists then I right click on songs go down to copy, left click on copy then I go to my computer, click on the USB (usually shows the brand of stick you have) then I copy to that. Now wether Im doing this right I have no idea and no body has shown me another way but its working lol. Took me a few goes to work out how to do it. Its probably not right and is the long way around ?? Cheers Steve

Hi there Kowolski, how do I set it up so that it down loads automatically into MP3 format. ?? Can it be done ?? At the moment every song I get downloads into m4a so I have to convert every thing all the time, pain in the arse especially as Im sure im going the long way around but even so if there is a way to make it so I get MP3 straight off would be really good. Somewhere in iTunes settings you can change the format. Not at my pc but it's pretty obvious when you poke around

When I bought the itunes settings up, the songs appeared to be protected files?? not sure if I,m on the right path?

Thanks Steve, it works but really do not want duplicate files. I guess when we find out how to permantly change then future copying will be OK., for now I'LL use the ipod.
