  • did ARB kilsyth have a bad week ??

    hi
had my car in at ARB for all the new goodies
    Deluxe winch bar
    Arb draws
    spotties
    uhf

just keep in mind they had a month in advance to order all the gear

i dont know if its my luck lately but i had dramas when purchasing the lightforce lights and then it continues on to the installation well they forgot to install them
Arb draws they didnt have a part in to fit them
uhf rattles under dash which made me look and my god they didnt even install it its thrown in no mounting bracket used deluxe winch bar seems to be ok
but i did have a spare metal bracket in my passenger seat and some big ass O rings

has anyone else had this sort of thing happen at ARB

Sounds like a case of slackfitteritis. Take pics of all faults and send them an email detailing the rework you want completed. Follow up with a phone call. Be nice and civil and suggest that you expected more from them. Just as well you were not getting difflocks fitted.

ive had the same sort of thing with the uhf, they just threw it inside the dash and only found out when it was coming on and off , i decided to pull apart the dash and have a look to see. ive also had a kaymar dual wheel carrier fitted which they forgot to fit some bolts around the hitch on. this was ARB regency park in south australia so ARB kilsyth arent the only ones doing a dodgy job.

ARB Cairns are just as bad, they have fitted all my accessories to date. First off the had 2 months paid notice for my gear due to the delayed delivery of the car. They lost the original order so I missed out on the Stihl chainsaw promo, then the rear bar was the wrong one ( no park sensor holes) but since it took 6 months to show up I didn't want to send it back! Now it seems they forgot to change the drain on my XP9.5 winch so the motor has seized before I have used it. The mudflaps on the Kaymar look like my 9 year old daughter fitted them even though it took them two full days to fit it!
Stupid me has ordered bash plates but I will definitely be fitting them myself.

Found this when they fitted my snorkel to my old 90
            [IMG][/IMG]

This was where it should have been attached but had come away by the time I got home, heard a rattle and wondered what it was till I pulled the plastic splash guard off underneath
            [IMG][/IMG]
Wont mention the store location as I was compensated for all the stuff ups including my bash plate been used as a jacking point which then pushed it up onto my diff, not to mention grease on my leather seats.................ARB is not the only one, there is another brand of 4wd store here in Penrith where the fitter should have been sacked instantly for the dodgy fitment of towbar and other stuff to a PP members 150 prado. For the owner of a brand new 150 how he kept his cool I'll never know, needed a new rear bar, painted etc and other stuff to get it to an acceptable level, lucky it wasnt my prado I probably would be in trouble with the law especially with the fitters smart arse attitude.................And this was the second time, the first was with my petrol 90, torn boot when they did the lift which they would have seen, then when I sent it back and asked for it to be fixed properly it come back glued together with quickgrip (yellow crap) It went back the next day and they had ordered some aftermarket shit to put in it, told them where it would be placed if they used it (could tell the difference to genuine it was thinner) and this my friends was two different stores. Starting to get to far away from home now lol........Cheers Steve

I had all 5 alloys damaged by a tyre fitter with an eager rattle gun. This was at an ARB franchise not an ARB owned store. To their credit they rectified the situation.

Yeah not to mention no paint or any anti corrosion stuff put on the bare metal, plus metal shavings sitting at the bottom of my guard. I emailed the head office with all the pics and got a call asking me to produce the vehicle for an inspection. Told them they have the pictures and Id drop the bash plate off at their door and I want a new one, not this one bent back out, f**ken dickheads. Two stores two stuff ups............and their the professionals.........my four year old knows to pop the top down on her drink before she puts it in the cupholder incase it jumps out, these clowns cant wash their hands or put some plastic covers over the seats and keep them away from the leather door trims so as not to transfer grease after they have just replaced a rubber boot,........was pissed when it happen I can tell you........I wish I had the mechanical knowledge to run one of these stores as I reckon my customer complaint would be hopefully zero (cant please everyone) as I would personally check every vehicle before it went out the door or while their doing the job. Their lucky I noticed it before my wife and I went away or I would have gone balistic knowing the bodgy fitment of the snorkel was the cause of the engine drowing and stuffing our holiday half way through............Cheers Steve

Yeah happened to me to D4D but not ARB, was a well know tyres fitter who use to race cars. Stuffed it totally then hoped I wouldnt see them put it back on, hence why I stand there and watch every move they make. To busy talking on their phones to make sure the clamp thing was on tight before hitting the start button to balance the wheel which I didn't want done in the first place only wheel alignment then they wanted to charge me for the balance, ha ha no friggin chance........Couldn't organize a shag in a brothel some of these places.........Cheers Steve

Best one I had was when I ran out of time and got a well known local 4wd mechanic to fit some lower control arms with moggs joints to my GQ. I asked them to take out the grub screws and fit grease nipples. Get the vehicle home and attach the grease gun and the grease nipple comes off leaving the thread inside the joint. Cut a long story short, Conan the fitter had snapped the grease nipple of fitting it and decided to Araldite it back on. It was an interesting discussion with the store owner the next day.

Had my local mechanic do a registration check last week and I mentioned I was getting some items fitted for the GTG and the first thing he said was hope your not getting the Australian Rough Bastards to do the work as he's had to knock back some recent registrations due to many many reasons in the last 12 months that have opened my eyes up, he also stated that it's very widely spread throughout the industry on some of the fitters carrying out unprofessional AND unsafe work. We shouldn't have to check this stuff we pay good money to purchase and than have fitted by ARB or their recognised mechanical stores. We have paid for a quality product that is with out doubt the best on the market today, I think ARB needs to bring in a quality controlled system to control the safety of the stores fitting their products. Many great Australian companies have gone down the drain due to not have systems and processes in place to regulate the quality of the end product. Have a good hard look at it ARB.

its not hard to do good work even down to the little things like cutting a cable tie flush so you dont cut your hands on them

im a electrician by trade and i have to sign off on my work to say its done right
why cant there be a system in place so the fitter has to put his name to his work

My favorite saying is "if you want something done properly do it yourself"

The majority of times I let anyOne work on anything of mine (like a vehicle under warranty) they always stuff or forget something, thankfully in some ways I'm a vehicle technician and do my own work/mods in my workshop.

                            I feel your frustrations.......
