  • 2012 altitude. love it

    hi there.

Corey here and my wife is Melayna
    from Whyalla South Aus

just purchased a 2012 April build altitude. silver pearl, absolutely love it and the wife is very happy.

just a question and sorry if its been asked before. im guessing the altitude is the VX model upgraded??
is the sat nav and all the front radio instruments the same as the kakadu? if so has any body plugged in a compatible gaming console for the rear DVD? it has the video selection in the source on the screen im not sure if we can plug it in. we have 3 kids and going over to esperance WA at xmas and i think this would help with bordem.

thanks for your help in advance.

Congratulations on your purchase. I sat in one and they are very nice with bums on leather.

The Altitude is between the GXL and VX. The sat nav is the same or very similar to the Kakadu.

You should be able to plug in any gaming console, DVD player or media player that outputs to the 3 RCA (red/white/yellow) plugs. You'll just have to make sure that the power consumption of the device you are running is under 120W direct 12VDC connection, or use an inverter if it is an AC plug pack. A sine wave inverter is much better for electronics than modified sine wave inverters. However, a sine wave inverter is much more expensive.

Places like Jaycar, DSE, Home of 12Volt or even ebay should have them.

It's supposedly meant for charging laptops and mobile phones.
Apparently, the AC plugpack outputs 8.5VDC @ 5.6A = 47.6W. So the AC jack in the cargo area should be OK but whether the plugpack can take modified sine wave is another matter. If you fry one, I guess you could always buy another one.

Looks to have come down considerably since I last looked. And much smaller too.

You'd have to connect it straight to the battery via a fuse if you intend on pulling more than 100W from it.

                      Hi Corey,

we have just purchased same car, crystal pearl, Better half did not want White!

Would be interesting to see if the PS2 or 3 would run, however I think the PS3 needs more power so don't assume the same set up running PS2 will run PS3, Also It would be great if we could get Toyota to upgrade the stereo to allow Bluetooth Audio like almost every other car on the planet over $20K, and the standard GXL has standard!

                      David

Two separate dealers here on the Sunshine Coast one said June 3 the other said June/July. Pricing released closer to sale date but when he looked at the order book they said they had only Altitudes coming in no VX or Kakadu. Last year they were caught short.
