  • Bluetooth with more than one phone - ARGH!!!

My wife and I both have iPhones paired to the Prado 150 GXL. I have read an old thread that says there is a way to switch between phones using the controls on the steering wheel and then using voice recognition to switch to the phone I want. I've checked the owner's manual and haven't been able to find any information on this. I have figured out how to do this through the main menu on the entertainment unit, but this takes you through a maze of a menu, and I'm hoping there's a much easier way. My wife and I both drive the car, so this would be a huge PITA otherwise.

Yeah i will be keeping an eye on this one. I managed to pair my iphone. Then I managed to pair my missus HTC. Then whilst trying to set up the BT audio from my iphone I unparired the missus phone, she is stoked!
Just need to spend some time and sort it out i spose.

I tell you though - my $3000 Rodeo ute has a cheapo Pioneer head unit and the bluetooth in that shits all over my $65000 Prado LOL! Really easy to use and picks the iphone contacts straight up...!

My understanding was that you can pair multiple phones, but one will be marked as having priority. As a result, if any one phone is in the car it will work for that phone, but if both phones are in the car only the one that is marked as priority will work.

The car doesn't seem to detect the secondary iPhone without manual intervention. Even if the main iPhone isn't in the car. Unless I'm missing something?

I'm having the same trouble. And for that extra bit of irritation for those that are interested, if you pair a media playing device (such as the iPad I got to keep the kids entertained), it won't work with either of the iPhones until you manually go back and change the selected BTA device. Surprisingly irritating.

What an absolute pain! It takes several presses of the button and several turns of the dial to navigate through the audio system's settings just to switch phones. And this doesn't work unless you actually have the phone you are switching to in the car. So I can't even switch it back to my wife's phone after I'm done with the car without going into the house and bringing her phone back out.

Sorry to bump up an old topic, however has anyone found a way around this problem. Extremely annoying to have to repair phones everytime wife and i drive the car.

No way around it as far as I have found, very annoying. I'm installing a Parrot Asteroid Smart soon that handles two phones at once.

If she is not driving I just turn the wife's blue tooth off before we get in the car. Works well.

Its weird. Just had the car serviced and when it was returned all the bluetooth paired phones had been removed. Now when I pair two phones it will only automatically recognise the last phone paired. I then have to switch to the the other phones previoulsy paired manually. Before it would pair automatically to the phone in the car (provided it was previoulsy paired). I want it back the way it was.

That means they disconnected the battery during the service. Do you know why?

I to had the same problem with two samsungs. Gave up trying to connect both phones to bluetooth, so brought another blue tooth device and now have on phone connected to the cars device and the other phone connected to the second device. best thing i could come up with.

                            Cheers

Not sure how much help this will be, but I picked up my MY14 150 GXL from the dealer yesterday and after reading this thread jumped in with my phone (already paired) and my wife's phone. I have an iphone 6 and wife an iphone 5.

It would appear they've updated the system software because i simply clicked "Add New", paired the phone and now i just choose which phone i would like to be connected. I've tested it multiple times and works perfectly.

So, I'm not sure if the software can be updated on older 150s, but they definitely seemed to have solved this problem in the 2014 refresh. Maybe ask the dealer?
