  • Updated 150 coming soon ?

    Hi All,

Thinking of upgrading to a 150 GXL, but curious if I should wait a little longer for another update/special model ?

I like the idea of the Altitude, but doubt their is any left around the country...

Can't find any details on a 2013 model online either.

    Cheers

There are still a few Altitudes around, depends if you mind traveling to find one. Try Carsales.com.au, they usually have a few listed.

When I was looking, I was told by several different dealers that the Altitude would be coming back around August next year. Toyota were in process of going through theirs models with the Altitude, 200Lc, Rav 4, etc...

The other thing they said was that the rumour was the 2013 build 150 might have the satnav from the Kakadu/VX/Altitude.

All comes down to if you want a car now, or don't mind waiting.
Unless they have one in stock now of the model you want, you'd probably be looking at a 2013 delivery date by now.

Im not Bogged - I've just lost traction. . . . . and now I'm showing the wife why I bought those Maxtrax, and the tyre deflator, and the compressor, and the bullbar, and the winch, and a lot of other goodies I've hidden in the Prado

I was at my local Toyota dealership this past weekend looking at the LC200 and LC150 and got chatting with one of the dealers. He told me that he was aware the 150 was getting an update (in his words 'facelift' - but I'd suggest he was referring to a general update only) for 2013. He didn't specify what the update would be but stated that after three years since it was first released the current series was about to get an upgrade. He believed that it would probably happen around Octoberish this year as historically that was when each Prado model was updated. I informed the dealer that I was serious about placing an order for a new Prado and his advice was to wait until the 2013 model was released or close to being release before I placed an order.

Could the update be the US Lexus GX

Just looking for this fabled update and came across the Lexus GX which is the US Prado, seemed reasonable that this could be our facelift. Not too major changes except the deletion of the rear wheel from the door, different headlights and some sweet instruments. Still have to learn how to link URLs and photos, but just search Lexus GX and see what you think. I guess most of you have all seen these and probably dispelled them on other posts, but I couldn't find anything. If this is the next face of prado and an update is imminent, it would explain the $60k or less drive away pricing on the GXL. Just food for thought. CHEERS

                  Hi Corkster,

                  Different countries get different styles.

America, Europe and some other countries have an under slung spare tyre, but they loose a fuel tank for it. Australia gets the longer range tank, but have the rear mount tyre.

Some countries also get dual batteries as standard, wish we did here.

Unlikely Australia will get the underslung tyre.

Sure hope that stays the same as I am not a fan of the US back door set up. I was more thinking of the lights and dash. That wouldn't be too much of a stretch I imagine. Either way there will be a new PRADO in my garage as soon as the the wife test drives them both. And she likes the US no back wheel version. Yikes!

That update makes seonse as I have just got a quote on a new Zr Prado and the 2012 price is $2k less than the 2013 price . I buy through Fleet pricing and they were unable to tell me the reason for the increase at this stage except to say it was a "new spec" vehicle.

I have asked them to get more detail. i am really helping the diesel has some more power ...its the only thing letting it down , add to it a chip and we are talking some real stump pulling power !!!

To get landcruiser style rear opening i would actually prefer to loose a tank ande get the tyre underneath. Like really a 93L main tank at 10lp100 that is still like a comfortable 800k range so i would be happy
Even on our half lap of australia we never came across more than 400k distance without fuel being avaliable

I have done a 760km and a 780km stretch without any possibility of getting fuel. Neither instance was anywhere; where 10l/km was even remotely realistic. One of the real winners for the Prado is the tank size and touring range IMO.

                            Cheers Andrew

Not to mention the inconvenience of the spare being under the car when you need it.
