Fitting Hilux bonnet scoop to a 150

hi fellows ,derek here (dingdong ) we will pick up our used 150 , 2010 Prado this weekend .
still has factory warranty on it & have payed for the 3 year extended warranty also ,as we tow a 18ft van around a bit was going to get the dealer (M=======) to fit a Hilux bonnet scoop to the bonnet as we tow a n 18ft caravan after reading the pages on the forum it is a defined benefit to the inter cooler ,the dealer ship has told me no cant do this as its a modification & it will valid the warranty , this seems strange to me as it would help not hinder ,any one else had this ,

Mate can't comment on whether or not it'll void the warranty (although I highly doubt altering the bonnet would!). But just for info the inter cooler on the 150 is a front mount, ie in front of the radiator, so I'm not sure you get any real gain other than aesthetic. Considering you want to tow a van frequently, I'd invest in an oil cooler for the auto, unless of course it's manual. This would provide some longevity to the gearbox if it's going to be under load most of the time.

I'm sure there are others here with some input for you as well, but that's the way I'd approach it.

Were they talking about the 150, or the 120? My intercooler is definitely front mounted. I've seen some 120's with top mounted.

no its definitely the 150 D4D it`s auto & has a auto cooler in the front also already

If its a 150 diesel there isn't a black cover on top of the motor. The inter cooler is mounted in front of the radiator so a bonnet scoop will have no advantage other than looks. If its a 150 with a black cover on the motor then it's a v6 petrol and has no inter cooler!

To me, it sounds like you've bought a V6.

Mate to help clear this up, take a photo of your engine bay. It'll be easy enough to tell for certain what you've got and where your inter cooler is.

thanks to all,
went to dealer today was right to a certain extent , i have bought a 150 D4D Diesel 4cly 2010, the inter cooler is in the front,
bonnet scoop would fit over EGR cooler if fitted apparently .pick it up late Friday afternoon thanks again, Derek
