  • Studs on inner guard behind airbox????

Does anyone know what the studs behind the airbox in a 150 GXL TD are used for? Wondering if there is a factory bracket of some sort that I could modify to mount my redarc BCDC1240 aswell on some circuit breakers etc.

    Cheers
    Brad

    Hey Brad,

I think they are for something to do with the suspension on the VX and Kakadu (someone will correct me if I am wrong). Not sure if you can get a toyota part, might be worth the question though.

If not it is an easy place to manufacture and fit a bracket to, I made a bracket and used them to mount it, good solid base. I put some circuit breakers on it, however I mounted the BCDC1240 On the opposite side of the engine bay away from the exhaust headers to hopefully reduce the heat.

I'm guessing it must be part of the KDSS system. Does anyone have a picture of the factory setup or even better a part number for the bracket.

My 120 has the same shaped bracket and the ABS is mounted to it. My 120 also has a brake booster, whereas my new 150 has a pump next to the master cylinder/ABS unit. Maybe Toyota use that bracket for the non VCS modeles overseas which would probably have a brake booster and ABS setup similar to the 120. Just conjecture

I have a VX, and used those studs to mount an aluminium bracket to house my REDARC BCDC1240, circuit breakers, fuses and the like for the second battery - so yes, quite a useful mounting location, and no, not used for KDSS in a VX... (I also put a 3rd mount point on my custom bracket back to the front inner guard which had a conveniently close tapped hole also unused, to stop vibration on corrugations causing fatigue issues with the aluminium bracket - those BCDC1240's weigh enough to cause a bit of movement if the brackets are not properly fabricated.)

                Hi Brad,

If you or any other PPer's out there need the dimensions of the hole spacings PM me, and I'll see what I can do about organizing a pdf copy of the drawing I did of the bracket.

                Cheers Waz

All nuts & bolts using lock tight to hold them in place.
...And for those thinking "That's pretty messy", well, yes - diagnosing problems with my ARB fridge on the side of the road sort of messed up the once neat wiring here, and you all know about those niggling little jobs that never seem to get done...
