    Headlights

So not really an option, you just have to drive around all day with the lights on.
This is a joke Toyota needs to provide a fix for this, It is dangerous!! If you are tall you need to bend down while driving to see what is on as the dash lights are too low to see during the day.

I will NOT be a goose with my headlights on during a sunny summer day. I Just cant do it.

But will Toyota allow Garmin or TomTom etc to develop an app for the system!
Having had a play with the Toyota Link, I would happily pay $100 say for a TomTom or Garmin App for my headunit that uses my phones GPS via bluetooth.

There have been aftermarket Sat Nav upgrades available for a while now.

If you contact a reputable Auto audio visual company they should be abe to assist.

Dealerships would be getting someone in to do this anyway.

Other vendors are starting to go this way, with the same physical screens/buttons fitted across all models and the Satnav functionality enabled either through hardware or software upgrades by the dealer (obviously at a cost). Saves them manufacturing multiple dash layouts, keeps prices lower by only selling people what they want and most importantly (for the manufacturers to make $$$ anyway) quick and simple for them to activate in the dealership and still charge a fortune for the privilege while tying buyers to OEM upgrades that they will no doubt charge a for as well....
i was chatting with my dealer today,

he said its available to upgrade now its an aftermarket process though and costs around $1600. he didnt explain the whole process as we were both rushed for time.

    anyone else heard of this?

    regards

Mine doesn't have the new guard as shown by Krypto with the weld.
However, mine is definitely different to both the new and old guards shown in Krypto's photos!
The old to me seems fairly 'flat' while mine has a few 'pressings' along it like the new but still very different to the new reinforced one. I hope this makes sense?
I will not be pleased if mine is not addressing the cracking issue.

David, make sure you are looking at the passenger side as this is the side the photo was taken. The right hand side understandably looks different to the photo.

Its almost like they are made in different factories. Like I said earlier luckily the number of failures is relatively low.

Mines an early October GXL, so maybe they were using up old panels on the new model but you would think they would plan things a little better than that. Or only Kakadus get the different guards. Need a few 2014 GXL people to have a look and check and post your build month.

And I checked my dimmer knob and there is no switch when turned full either way.

Dunno why some have got them and some haven't. But mine has.........
Good to hear, I'd be really annoyed if I got the old design on a new model. Bear in mind that the majority of Prados don't have guard failures.

The face lift models I saw with old guards were GXs and one manual GXL. So not sure about the logic either. Definitely worth checking if you buy one.
