from Drive.com.au site - article "Australia in the slow lane on diesel danger" Motor News Date April 27, 2013

Australia will adopt the Euro 5 standard in November, less than a year before Europe adopts the Euro 6 standard.

But manufacturers will be allowed to sell Euro 4 vehicles until November 2016, putting many Australian cars two generations behind European products.

        • Do the new VX & Kakadu come with KDSS? I can't see it mentioned anywhere...

            • Had a look today at the GXL and the cloth interior is now a very dark charcoal the screen is a massive improvement few difference hear and there but overall looks good in the flesh.
Taking a Kakadu for a test drive in the morning. It was in being prepped today

              • Took a new Kakadu for a drive today, it drove similar to my old 150 Kakadu but seemed a bit smoother. New dash layout is pretty flash and will take some getting used to. Shocky adjustment switch is in a far better place where you can see what setting you are currently using whilst driving. You are also able to load apps (in the future) onto the Nav setup, eg: fuel finder etc.
Seats are a lot softer and better leather (if you call it that), compared to the crap plastic leather seats in my current 150 Kakadu.
Nice LED low beam with LED DRL's, and do you believe it..........still halogen high beam.....FFS TOYOTA!!!!!
A lot more adjustments via the touch screen for everything inside. Multi terrain system can now be adjusted by a large rotary switch which is far better than the current set up. Carpets and door trims are darker than current model but look quite nice (when clean).
Other than that it is quite similar to the current model. I have ordered mine

Which year Kakadu did you have before? What was the price of the new one if you don't mind me asking?

Hi how did the test drive go for the kakadu? Been told that the KDSS has been refined. Any difference around corners? Does it feel any firmer? Does car overall feel more powerful and refined?

                          Comment

                          • Yes took the Kakudu for a lap and it drove well we threw it around a roundabout and it was fairly flat . I have driven the GX in the past and the difference was noticeable with KDSS. Power is the same as before but fuel economy is slightly better looking at the sticker. The interior is darker and the timber trim is also darker you can't really tell it's timber look. Not that redish colour in the last one.
Not a lot between the Kakadu and VX in the spec level now that the audio is the same and you can buy a lot of accessories for the 14K difference.. I can report they have fixed the bluetooth streaming issue that was a not avaible with the old with sat nav audio unit. I was able to stream Pandora radio no problem the sale guy was impressed. Also you can easily bring up previously called numbers etc. I was using an IPhone 5 . The could use with a engine upgrade but it's an honest ride. And the resale can't be beat.

                            • Saw a couple of the new model on a Brisbane lot today - black TD and a white V6. I assume both were GXL models but neither had a badge on the back door to indicate the model. Have others noticed this or were these two just waiting for some silver plastic badges to be stuck on?
I still like the versitility of my 120's second and rear seats, though. To be able to tumble the second row forward and to pull out the back seats in a matter of seconds makes the vehicle much more useful for carrying long or grubby loads, camping, installing an Engel, etc.
