I just thought after all this hype about a new facelift and new KDSS that toyota was actually serious in getting better.
It is possible to make heavy cars handle better and still be compliant off-road, but this comes at the cost of using lots of complicated systems or clever electronics. And with complicated systems always comes greater chance of failure. No doubt Toyota are heading in that direction but I hope they don't go too far.

Pajero may be at an advantage due to the independent rear, however as soon as you tow with it the camber of the rear makes it look like a V8 supercar and you soon scrub the crap out of your tyres.

Nothing a set of airbags can't sort out, then you have the best of both worlds, and a bit more torque and goodies to play with. But I see your point.

        • Airbags are not a substitute for a poor suspension design, use the right tools for the job.

At least it doesn't look like the new Nissan Pathfinder!!!!!
nissan australia needed that new pathy update, since bring it to the US, they have increased sales 200% (still below competitor cars, but an improvement none to less)

i still prefer the old one if i was forced

              • Toowoomba Toyota has a white one. Unable to tell if its a GXL. There is no model badge on the rear door. They look good but the front will be a challenge for bullbars! Centre instrument panel looks better with large touch screen. I assume its a GXL because of the 17 inch rims. Headlights are quite high up and the grill goes down quite a long way into the redisigned bumper.
Had a 2006 GXL, liked it so much bought a 2008 GXL. Liked the 150 so I bought a black 2010 GXL. Liked them even more and bought 12/2012 GXL. Must like Prado

Along the lines of what d4D said regarding the Paj but also the Prado has a ladder style chassis verses the monocoque style of the Pajero. Don't know what the Disco has.

                  • Had a look at the new pathfinder today, may have trouble getting over a kerb to find a path without knocking off that pretty skirt. But presumably it handles okay as it sits low to the ground and has some nice aero stuff attached.

Maybe you should talk about this in the Pathfinder thread. It's distracting.

Are you easily distracted by Nissan's?

                        • Just received email from ARB ref bulbar . I don't see how old one would fit due to the bar getting the way of the new lights so it may be a long wait!

                          Good afternoon Chris

Thank you for your email regarding your New Prado.

I am unsure when a bull bar will be available the R&D team will be working on finding out if the previous bar will fit if not we will be going about designing a new bar to suit.

Updates will be available through our facebook page and Website as new information is released.

I’d welcome the opportunity to have you visit the showroom to discuss your options and pricing in the mean time if you would like a copy of our latest catalogue I would be happy to send it out to you.
Should you have any further questions or if you wish to order these parts please don’t hesitate to contact me on 6254 2367 or via this email.

                          Kindest Regards

                          • Pick up my new VX crystal pearl before the weekend. Asked TJM about a bar and they have a new Prado that they are working on to make the adjustments. They reckon early next year. Snorkel is the same and tow bar is also all good. 75K drive away. Didn't give the ming mole any joy I said if something happens to the paint I'll be knocking on your door. My only purchase will be the rubber toyota mats they're a good buy.
The extra fruit on a Kak not worth the extra 14K. The main difference I could see was the suspension, rear diff lock, blindspot, radar cruise, sunroof, and memory seats, and multi mode 4wd.. everything else is the same.

Not having model badges seems to be the new approach, at least for GXL and VX. Can make it challenging!
