I thought the adaptive suspension in the Kakadu was something else - that you could set how "hard" it was electronically. I gather this is done (in the back at least) by replacing the springs with airbags.

Mate in the website, under suspension, it is called adaptive variable .....with 3 setting levels...this is the KDSS. It is under kakadu specsOriginally posted by peter_mcc View PostDo you mean the KDSS info? If so, where is it? I looked at the VX turbo diesel specs and it doesn't mention KDSS. It's not mentioned as something additional for the VX or Kakadu. And if you ask it for the differences between a GXL and VX there is no mention of any suspension changes!

They pretty much should have sent you the first and last line only and you would be just as informed LOLOriginally posted by peter_mcc View PostHere's Toyota's email response to my question of "Do the new VX & Kakadu Prado's have KDSS".
Good Morning,
Thank you for your recent email received by the Toyota Customer Experience Centre.
You will need to liaise with your dealership if you are requesting specific information which is of a technical nature.
Technical experts are within our Toyota dealerships and have extensive knowledge that may be particular to customer’s needs and wants.
Thank you for contacting Toyota and allowing us the opportunity to respond.
Kind regards
That's a pretty pathetic answer...

Looks like this might be the first carsales.com.au advert for the new Prado:

Saw a couple of the new model on a Brisbane lot today - black TD and a white V6. I assume both were GXL models but neither had a badge on the back door to indicate the model. Have others noticed this or were these two just waiting for some silver plastic badges to be stuck on?
I still like the versitility of my 120's second and rear seats, though. To be able to tumble the second row forward and to pull out the back seats in a matter of seconds makes the vehicle much more useful for carrying long or grubby loads, camping, installing an Engel, etc.

Yes took the Kakudu for a lap and it drove well we threw it around a roundabout and it was fairly flat . I have driven the GX in the past and the difference was noticeable with KDSS. Power is the same as before but fuel economy is slightly better looking at the sticker. The interior is darker and the timber trim is also darker you can't really tell it's timber look. Not that redish colour in the last one.
Not a lot between the Kakadu and VX in the spec level now that the audio is the same and you can buy a lot of accessories for the 14K difference.. I can report they have fixed the bluetooth streaming issue that was a not avaible with the old with sat nav audio unit. I was able to stream Pandora radio no problem the sale guy was impressed. Also you can easily bring up previously called numbers etc. I was using an IPhone 5 . The could use with a engine upgrade but it's an honest ride. And the resale can't be beat.

Does car overall feel more powerful and refined?Originally posted by Sprocketz View PostHad a look today at the GXL and the cloth interior is now a very dark charcoal the screen is a massive improvement few difference hear and there but overall looks good in the flesh.
Taking a Kakadu for a test drive in the morning. It was in being prepped today
