  • Front seats = SORE bum !!!!!!!!

    Hi Guys and Girls

I have had my 2010 150 prado since new and the front seats to put it lightly are rubbish.

I have had people from early model Prados comment on how hard they are.

I travel out to Cobar a 5 hour drive, and my Bum is aching by the time i arrive.

I just travelled to sydney for the weekend with my father and he couldnt belive how bad the passenger seat was for that drive.

Is it just us or is this a common complaint.

    Cheers
    Neal

We had over a month away, towing a boat, did around 8900kms to, and then up and down the east coast.
Most comfortable long distance car Ive ever had.

Some ppl say their 120 seats are not comfortable.
I'm undecided, but their definately very different to falcons and commodores which are softer and pretty comfy.
I'm used to falcon xr seats, they are growse.
Our Camry seats are pretty firm, must be a Toyota thing......

Due to hip problems (one side a sports injury, the other side a work injury) I sit on a wedge cushion I bought from Clarke Rubber. Costs about $70- but do not have as much pain in the arse from driving. Still need to get out for a wander around every couple of hours but not as much pain, and I could no longer drive or sit for a short time on a standard car seat.

I was disappointed when I picked up my 2012 gxl prado - my lower back was very sore after a 3 and a half hour drive. But it seems to be getting better now they seem to be settling in. Was pretty disappointed though that getting into my 2000 model patrol felt like a mercedes benz compared with the prado, but like I said it's much improved now.

I did 2 trips in 2011 for a total of 9223km's in my Dec2010 150, I hinted to the other half that I would gladly drive to Darwin or Bungle Bungles if she wanted to go, I have no problems with seats in our Prado, nor the other 4 adults who were in vehicle for the trip. I do have problems with pinched nerves in lower back & always find it a pleasure to sit down after being in town shopping.

i had issues with sciatica when i first got the car. however, by playing around with the seat height, distance, backrest, etc, i have found the optimum seating position. i now have no issues - even after driving 1000kms without stopping.

in any case, the front seat feels like a cloud compared to the rear centre seat.

Oh yes. The rear center seat is a shocker.
I have no doubt that the designer did not actually sit iin it............ well for more than a second at least.
I have yet to experience a more uncomfortable seat anywhere let alone in a vehicle.
As we drive with a few friends from time to time, say for a picnic or out for the evening, the person in the center of the rear seat is soon asking............ Are we there yet?

A woeful effort Toyota. What were you thinking? Er, did you actually ............

I must say that the 150 seats are an improvement on the 120 which felt like the seats came out of an old Morris Minor !

I love the 120 seats, especially since I put sheepskin covers on. I could sit in them all day and not be worried. The back ones aren't great, but they can't be too big because they need to fold up.
I have owned and driven lots of cars, but my last was a 03 ford courier and the Prado seats s**t all over those ones.

I don't have a problem with the comfort of the driver's seat on my 120 series Grande, or the GXL before it, or the 80 series before that. They are all a huge improvement over the low back seat in an old Morris!

Interestingly, my BIL upgraded from the 120 to a 150 series and he says the seat on the 150 gives him a sore back after a while and the 120 seat was far more comfortable.

I have done six 900km trips with only comfort stops in the last 6 months. My wife suffers from a bad back and uses a lumber support in the passenger seat. We find the seats great. Previous vehicle was a 90 series Prado and both had lambswool seat covers.
