4WD Selector Dial

Greetings from the USA! Here we are running a cousin platform, the 4Runner, which shares many parts with the Prado. In fact, we recently imported a bunch of duel battery trays from AU. There is one modification I have planned but I do need help from this community, please. Below is a picture found on the internet of the 4WD Selector Dial, which I think is a 150

1. Please confirm that its is in fact from a Prado 150
2. I need the Toyota OEM part number for the dial <<<< main reason for this post as I can't find it anywhere and without a 150 VIN number most online sources have been no help.
3. Would anybody be willing post better photo of your dial and most importantly, post a photo of its connector

That dial is not in an oz Prado we have the same dial as in the top dash photo.

I can't help you with the part number but you are right in thinking Prado 150 series. Pretty sure someone here will be able to help you. Looks like your car share a few parts with the FJ Cruiser too, like the rear seats, the rims and the gear shift lever. I'm tipping you already knew that though, yeah?

I just wanted to say "wow - interesting thread". Aside from seeing that your car has some similarities, there are also some fascinating differences that are bound to get a few folks (including me) looking at mods in a totally different light. Love the antenna mod and the holster. Mind you I'd be content with a taser... Also love the "Party Mode" button lol Where are you ordering your switches from?

As far as I recall, the "4Runner" name in Australia has always been based on the Hilux platform. Looks like Toyota moved away from that in the mid '90's to move to the Prado platform(4Runner was dropped here). I knew that the Toyota "Fortuner" had taken the Hilux wagon mantle over the past 6-8 years throughout Asia and South America.

Thanks for the reply and sorry if I did not make my post clear enough. The first picture is what I'm looking for information on. The second picture is what I currently have and want to replace with the same as in the first picture.

Thanks AK7. From what I understand the 4Runner, FJ and Pardo share the same chassis, suspension and in some cases the engine and drive train. As mentioned. in order to add a second battery we in the US imported battery trays made for your truck.

And what you may not have noticed from my build thread, mine is actually a limited version which here comes with different front, side and rear moldings so what a few of us have done was replace them with the trail version molding for added off road clearance. Also added ARB front and real lockers and ARB twin air compressor.

To be honest, its because of you guys that we have so many cool off road parts made by those such as ARB.

As for the switches, they are a US company called OTRATTW http://www.otrattw.com/products.php?cat=14 and they have the ability to custom make switches. For example my Rigid LED lights are connected to a switch labeled ZOMBIE Lights. I liked them because they are very well made and look OEM.

Ha! You know us crazy Americans! I used a Glock only because a AK would not fit. Seriously, we are in the mist of a great gun debate so I hope nobody is offended.

But yes, we camp way in the woods and bears are a concern.

Hey phillyd,

Transfer switch part no. is 84223A (or 84223 60020), from toyodiy.com.

Pretty sure the Aus version is full time 4wd so the switch only has two positions (L4 and normally H4). I couldn't tell from your photo if the 4runner had the same or if it was 2H to 4H selectable.

Thanks guys. Looks like 84223A may be a good number that I can order here in the States, I think. Its hard to tell. My truck is also full time 4WD and our switch has H4F, H4L and L4L. Is that the same for you guys? Anybody have a better photo of yours?

mjrandom, here are my wheel specs. Other than the color they look more like our 4Runner Trail Edition wheels but also sort of like the FJ.

Black Rock Series 908 Yuma Matte Black Aluminum Wheels 908B786045
Diameter 17 in. 8.000 in.
Backspacing (in) 4.500 in. Offset 0.00mm

I'm running Goodyear Duratrac 285/17/70 Tires on them.

The link I posted has two switches. One is H4 H4L and L4L, seems to be the same part number. If you cannot get the switch post there and I will see what it is worth this side of the world. You will have to install it upside down of course.....

I like the wheels but at 0 offset not good for me.

It appears that even mine is listed as 84223A so that's not going to work. Although I did find 84223 60010 (not 20) for a Land Cruiser but there is no way to tell if that's what I'm looking for. The dials I have seen only have two positions and a completely separate button to lock it, which again would not work for me.

Can you determine which has the H4, H4L, L4L? I think that is the holy grail I seek.

I've also stopped by a Toyota dealer here but they can only search for parts via a VIN number and since the Prado is not available here I'm at a dead end.

Someone else will have to help you on the detail, I don't have my 150 yet, though I do have a big box of parts...........
