  • Interior silver/gry trim wear

Has anyone had problems with how quickly the inetior silver/grey trim wears and how easily it scratches?

I'm noticing a lot of wear on the door trims and the silver/grey coating has started wearing off on the gear shift. It seems pretty poor after only 2 years.

Mine has quite a few scratches on the trim either side of the radio. As I'm not the original owner I don't know how easily they happened, I figured they were from things like handbag buckles hitting them.

Can't say I've noticed any wear on the door trims though, mines 3 years old.

I have noticed how easily the plastic trim in the luggage space marks, way easier than my old 95 series.

The 120 series suffers from excessive wear on the silver strips either side of the console. Looks like Toyota didn't learn.

Same on my 2010 model, mainly from a few things packed on the back seat during trips, causing the rear door scratches, and the wife's watch and rings on the front passenger side door trim.

        It's a shitty finish really.

Had my 80 series crusier for 17 years, no problems with that.

mines pretty bad too especially the gear shift and around the cup holders in the front, the quality of plastic seems bad and easily scratched and I have been careful with it since owning my car from new (March 2010)

I'm just wondering if some of that 3M body protection film could be applied here? I've also seen carbon fibre wrap employed to cover up the woodgrain infills in one of the build threads on here; perhaps the same could be done with the silver bits.

It is a tad disappointing on a $90K+ vehicle when purchased new.

Nice finish and I'm sure it does a good job but it's not high on my list

My back door trim is scuffed to buggery after the last 4WD outing proved the standard floor tie-downs are not suitable for restraining a fridge in severe conditions!

But yeah like every one says, it's a nice finish when new but it doesn't stay that way very long...

Thankfully the woodgrain around my door controls does not mark as easily as the silver stuff. For the silver bits I was thinking more a clear coat but that would only work for fairly new unmarked panels I guess.
