Hi,
I am hoping someone can shed some light on this problem...
We purchased a brand new Kakadu and drove the car straight to BJ, changed the tyres for Yokahama Geolandar GO12's with a silver balance, meaning rim and tyre are match mounted so that the heavy part of the tyre is mounted 180 degrees to the heavy part of the rim. Then only a small amount of weight correction is required.
This resulted in viabrations on the freeway. These were felt through the seats, doors and small amount through the steering weel, at 100km/h and above.
They since checked twice with a roadforce machine which applies 500kg pressure on tyre whilst the tyre and rim is spun. They re-did some work on the balance, completed on car front balance after checking match mounting. After a test drive showed the problem, they swapped front to rear. Hours of waiting around and test driving.
Problem still there, more pronounced in the steering wheel viabration. The steering wheel moves clockwise, anticlockwise, back and forth when you don't hold it. When holding the steering wheel the steering wheel seems only a little bad. Hold the steering wheel in your finger tips and you can see the movement. The car shake is felt at 100km/hr and worse at 110 and 120 km/hr.
I have the same tyre type on my SR5 and no problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am thinking of asking for a refund and asking for my OEM tyres to be refitted. Sad I know, but I want a smooth ride.
