  • What to check before warranty expires?

The warranty on my 2010 GXL expires in two months. P.S Touch wood, no problems to date !

Any recommendations on what checks I need to do before I take the prado in for the final service under warranty?

Im interested about this one too. Mine runs out jan 2014 on my 2010 GX.
    I have a list already
    Tail shaft clunk (again)
    Water in R/H light
Rear door strut has patch of rust

Then I want some checks done
    Injector values checked and recorded
Boroscope inspection of oil pickup through sump drain with photo
Fix gearbox pause with software update
    Check all software updates

I'm sure ill have a few more.

    Cheers

The only items I could hit them up for were bonnet trim, driver seat padding (collapsing)and center rear seat-belt (not grabbing).
They fixed/replaced all three no questions asked.

That's interesting. My seat is fine but my steering wheel is showing more wear than a car with 58000 klm should have. Wonder if they will cover that.

My steering wheel was truly stuffed and Toyota wrote it of as wear and tear. Certainly not premium leather as described in the sales brochure.

Probably could have won if I'd fought but I couldn't be bothered and got it re covered.

The GX has to make do with a vinyl wrapped steering wheel that looks like brand new after three years and over sixty thousand km

Really depends on how the car was used. My GX steering wheel is a bit shabby at 55,000. But I know the previously owner would work out of the back with heavy duty gloves and would often drive to the next job leaving them on. This adds a lot of wear. Then I went and got an aggressive hyd fluid on my hands and did the same thing. This softned the wheel and did more damage in 10 minutes than the 55,000 klm before. Lesson learnt their so now I think ill get it re wrapped and be a little carefull next time.

I had the same issue with the side of the driver's seat near the front edge, Toyota called it wear and tear. It's not completely stuffed but the leather is worn and the tanning/dye has been rubbed off it, not something I expected from a < 50,000 KM old Kakadu. At least they are coming to the party on the tailshaft, that gets replaced this week.

gday, get tailshaft checked, known fault, big clunk from rear when changing gears, they replaced ours no questions asked, wear and tear on seat and steering wheel, seems to be common, unfortunately.
