Install front camera on GXL

i found a few front cameras on ebay and i was just wondering any one know's how to hook it up to the existing display unit in gxl

You would need some form of switchable AV splitter so you can switch the source from the front to rear input and vice versa as I doubt the standard GXL screen has a second source input. This would need to be installed with the input from the front and rear cameras going into the unit and the output tapped into the rear video feed that goes into the existing screen. If you wanted to be really clever with the install, I am sure you would be able to set-up the splitter to stay on the front input most of the time and only switch to the rear input when reverse is selected.

Personally, I don't think it would be worth the hassle trying to get it working with the existing screen as it is so small. Look at a larger 7" aftermarket screen with a double din fitment kit (available from ebay and info on some other threads in the forum) or one of the Extreme Electronics units as you would be able to find something with 2 video source inputs that would be switch-able from the device. You also get the added advantage of in-dash navigation with many of these units.
