Have you used Dual Lock, otherwise known as Duolock. Its an industrial type velcro with 3M tape. Just clean area properly then stick. It does not damage what is it sticking to either. You can slowly pull it off, but it takes some force and some time to do it slowly.
I used it for microphone holder, Scanguage, CB Radio (hidden in centre console) etc.
It costs lots more than velcro but substantially better.

Well 2 years later and everything is holding solid still. The battery monitor has taken a few knocks when switching to low, adjusting cables, etc, but it's still hanging on.
Even if it does come off then i'll just clean it up and whack some more on for another couple of years.
