Had the 70k service done today so first one out of fixed price service. Looking at the invoice the cost of the oil was $98. A long time ago I used to provide oil when I had my cars serviced from now on I might go back to that. I justified it to myself by the fact I could use Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil in the car for less than what they used to charge to put the standard oil in. That was for normal petrol powered sedans not a Diesel car. Does anyone provide their own oil when they get their Prado serviced whether at Toyota or elsewhere? Given I haven't purchased oil that would be suitable for the Diesel Prado is it worthwhile to do this or is the cost similar to what Toyota charge?

How much oil is in the sump? If its anything like a Pajero diesel, which holds around 10 litres, the $98 isnt bad. It isnt great as I'm sure they get it cheap, but it isnt bad. Think of what a 5 litre bottle of oil is worth at Repco etc.Wish List: Late 120 series or 150 series V6 preferably manual, the funds to buy said vehicle
Current ride: MY2002 Mits. Pajero V6 manual With a couple of bits and pieces

When I used to get my car serviced by a mobile mech, I used to supply the oil. Now it's done by Toyota I just let them use their own stuff

I just went and found the invoice for my 40000k service and 7 litre super diesel in june was $56.28. so a $3.00 rise in 6 months is'nt to bad, I think you should be asking questions of your service centre. $98 for oil is over the top.2011 White GXL Manual, TJM T13 Bar, X-Ray Vision HID 220 Driving lights, 265/70/17 Mickey Thompson S T Z tyres, Airtec Snorkel, Uniden 7700NB UHF, Ruffnuts Seatcover, TJM XGS Gold Suspension, Drifter Draws, Sidewinder Dual Battery System.
