Hello Broughan, I agree it looks really good indeed.

Can I ask you please for the details, part number/size/dimensions.

I understand that there are a couple of options with length, and someone has told me that they experienced quite a bit of wind noise with the biggest size of Pioneer Platform that is available for the Prado...UI'm not sure but yours looks like the next smaller size, and that's the one I think I would like to get...is there much wind noise when driving at highway speed with an unladen platform.

            kind regards,

            B

                Excellent,

That's the Rhino Platform I will get, however I will be mounting it on a GX Prado in the new year, and will mount it on feet directly to the roof, and not on roof rails, and it should sit a little lower on the roof, and apparently it has a higher load rating if not mounted on roof rails.

                Thanks so much

100kg roof mounted including platform and legs or 80kg on the rails including platform and legs.

Only about 15-20kg difference. Not worth the hassle for me.

Oh you have GX = no rails yeah well then all good. Maybe look at the backbone option? Takes it to 120kg I think?

Once you start adding up all the different accessories and items you are putting up on the roof the 20kg will make a difference.

The roof load limit is the determining factor of what you can carry. Not the roof rack or the type of leg used. So 100kg is the max.

Thanks so much for that clarification amts. Its been 5 years since I've had to think about kitting up a Prado with accessories.
I am considering mounting a second spare wheel on a Rhino rack when touring, do you happen know the weight of a genuine prado spare wheel...(I just sold my Prado, another one on order.)

Approx 30-32kg depending on tyre size and brand.

Yes there's a thread for that. If I recall it's about 30kg. Slightly more for muddies.

                                Thanks once again,

I did look for a thread, I found lots more on rhino roof platforms...so sorry for previous questions, but couldn't see any for the weight of spare wheel though...but the forum is getting so big, and the search function is not as good as it could be I think.
Thanks ..anyway..so that's 30kg for spare wheel, 25kg for the platform, about say 5kg for feet and fittings etc, so that leaves about 40kg for additional items..or thereabouts I guess.
