I thought the teeth didn't look well attached either.
There is no evidence they were ever there ! I would have expected some marks to be left at least.

Can anyone with an engineering background comment on whether that setup looks suitable for the transfer case ? I'm 100% sure that Toyota are going to try to weasel out of the warranty claim.

The missing teeth on the big cog are 16 teeth apart equispaced. Not sure if this is pure coincidence though...

Dealer mechanic hasn't said anything. He's probably not allowed to until they hear back from Toyota.

Every piece of 12v trickery is now complete, split conduited, crimped, soldered, heat shrinked, earthed and all that... Tomorrow build the pantry box for he camper kitchen, put in the water tank in the second row floorwell, install fridge box/slide... Nearly ready for holidays.

Picked up the car from Toyota, after they replaced the transfer case under warranty. They didn't try to shirk responsibility, so I'm pretty happy with the process overall.
I was expecting a drawn out battle over the warranty claim.

took the prado in for a 140k service. first service since i bought it. was over due for a service and the servicing hasnt been done properly my mechanic reckons. so all is good now
