Picked up my new Prado Friday, after having the D4D previously the V6 is a whole other animal--Love it. Fitted MSA seat covers and 3D mats. Next on the list is tinting the 2 front windows.

JJT I would be tinting all the windows on your new vehicle as the privacy glass offers no UV protection.

I'm guessing you're asking me spike? Love the look of the bull bar, just didn't want to co-operate with me today. The roadsafe recovery points were a pain to fit, I really struggled getting the bolts started in the nut/plate thingy. The edge finishing strip for the bumper cut also was being painful, I'm still not 100% happy with the way it is sitting. All that aside, I would buy this bull bar again, it looks great. The instructions are detailed enough, it is a very involved process though, so unless you have time and confidence on your side I would recommend you get someone else to do it.

After not being completely happy with my HID headlight kit, I installed some LED headlights for the low beam. They were dimmer than the Ebay HID I had. I put in a OEM standard H11 bulb and after much comparing and stuffing about I eventually ripped out the HID hi and lo and am back to stock bulbs.

Wasted some money and alot of time but have learnt something in the process.

Took my '14 GXL back to the dealership today to ask whether they REALLY replaced the oil filter during yesterday's 6 month/10,000km service as the manual specifies and as they said they did.

Problem was that when I inspected the engine bay after the service I noticed a blue paint mark/spot on top of the oil filter. I then noticed many of these spots all over the mighty D4D. I came to the conclusion that these were perhaps an artefact of a quality control process, marked at the time of assembly, and that the filter with blue spot had been in place since Japan and was NOT changed that day.

The dealer conceded that NO the filter had not been changed. That's a fatal error in my book. I won't be going back there.

I doubt the dealer he went to would change that either.
