Remote window close/open function.

I don't want to be one of these blokes who starts this way but and I'll get shot down in flames for it, but, I have read it before and searched without being able to find it so I'll ask anyway. I have a 2011 150 GXL and I know on some 150's they can be programmed to open and close the windows with the remote. Is this only a VX/Kakadu thing or can us poor GXL owners have the sames option. When asked my dealers response was:

We did have a look at programming options for your Prado, but that model variant doesn’t have a programmable computer. There is no option to upgrade the computer as this would require replacing the engine control module also which makes it a very expensive exercise.

How true is this?.

Short answer is, yes the GXL can do it. Mine is programmed to do it...

I basically had to fight the technician / mechanic to at least check if it could be done on a GXL. He first said that it would be model specific. I told him its in the manual. Then he said its a generic manual. I then told him I had seen other GXL's do it and he finally said I will have a look.

Surprisingly they found that yes it can be programmed.....

Or find a fellow PP'er in Perth, with a techstream, and follow the instructions in the manual and do it yourself (for a mutually acceptable fee of course).

Mine was done by Toyota during a service for free, as it should be. If yours is still under warrantee, get Toyota to re program the remote for you.

Craigo, yes it can be done. My GXL is done, I just asked the dealership to do it when it went in for the first service.

I got my GX done, also turned of the seat belt beeping, bit nicer jumping in and out moving trailer or collecting fire wood.

Also got mine done (GXL) and the bleeping seatbelt one as well by the dealer for free at a service. Strange thing was that the service manager hadn't heard of it but a young apprentice piped up and said he had done it before and would fix them both - which he did!

Probably find the apprentice had recently had some training but the service manager gets stuck behind his desk so wouldnt know

I am thinking of getting the auto window function removed.

Occasionally I have heard the beep of the locking function while gardening or working in the garage with my keys in my pocket. I am guessing that the unlock button has been operated while in my pocket by one of the other keys on the keyring pushing on it. Normally this is just an unlock or lock function. Usually safe as the car will lock again after some seconds if a door is not opened. But twice now I have found all windows down and the roof open. This is not so safe as they remain open.

Can confirm possible on GXL had mine done when ECU died, they programmed the windows to go up and down with the remote.

I do it my self using the techstream (Customize options) + VCM-II
