Yes it uses everything genuine, all Toyota link features still work.
It simply plugs into the back of the OEM unit. And an antena placed on dash.

GPS is activated by holding the hang up button for 2 seconds. Alternatively a
    Extra button can be installed.

That's exactly what I'm thinking, maybe hoping. Going to get bar work and what not done then see where the bank is at and the price of this set up

I just use Siri and Bluetooth with my iPhone 5s mounted in the charge cradle. Ask to direct me some where, she does through the stereo (sound) and the screen is clear and easy to read (on phone).

I also send receive emails, texts and do all the phone call and visual voice mail stuff via Siri by just holding the home button.

Not sure why I would want sat nav installed for that money.

I've just been playing with the Stereo unit and Toyota link. I agree the fuel finder and weather are decent features but the destination download looks nothing more than a gimmick. The head unit suggests, (also the Toyota website: http://www.toyota.com.au/prado/featu...r-audio-system)
says there are 2 USB ports. Does anyone know where the second is hiding?
According to the website it will play AVI, WMV and MP4. Anyone had any luck with it?
The bluetooth seems to work well, just takes a few seconds to connect and transfer the phone list. Not impressed with Toyota's idea of "Day-time running lights" on the GXL. Anyone know if it can be switched off?

              Cheers,
              Simon

Hi GXL only has 1 Usb port. You'll probably find one of the up spec models has two? I plug my iPod into the usb in my GXL and it works great, shows album art and you can browse the entire library.

They are daytime running lights they just aren't LED DRL. They don't turn off, thats the point of DRL's, but if you dislike them that much pull the globes out?

Then you'll have no headlights!! You just have to put up with it, but I am fine with them on, it is much safer, people notice you on the road. Not sure why the GXL cruiser gets them, even the rav4 has led, but the prado GXL has to be halogen? Must be a good reason.

The DRL's are separate globes to the headlights?

                      Quote from weblink posted above:
"Both audio systems feature a USB hub so two devices can be connected at the same time and all functions such as volume and track or device selection can be controlled by tapping and dragging in the same way that smartphones and tablets are operated."
I assume by "both" they are referring to the 2 grades, gx, gxl and vx, kakadu models as the different grades sport different units.
So I suspect there should be a second USB port somewhere, this suspicion is reinforced by the fact there are 2 USB buttons on the touch screen as music inputs. Might need to ask the dealer...
As for daytime running lights(DRLs), maybe the only realistic option to bypass them is to put a relay in the headlights circuit. Will need to put some more thought into it! Maybe it's just me but it irks me that I cannot turn them off. The manual says the headlights are supposed to have lower output when running DRLs. As far as I can tell there is no difference. Would be interesting to measure the voltage and current to see if Toyota are pulling a curly one!
Another question, the dealer told me the battery can be quickly discharged if the key fob is left next to the car. Anyone got any comments about or experience on this? Sometimes when you camp you want to be close to the car, would hate to inadvertently drain it. Even with an Auxiliary battery, it can't be good to drain the main battery.

Yeah I've got the facelift model and the dealer quoted me $1800 to add the SATNAV feature

I thought it was a bit rich, I like your price of $1300, probably give them a call

This states the system features A (singular) usb hub so two devices can be connected at the same time - 1 via usb and 1 via bluetooth. There are not 2 USB hubs

Haven't tried it myself yet but in a previous topic the 2 USB ports were discussed and if you plug an external USB hub into the socket you can then plug in 2 USB devices and the unit recognises them as USB1 and USB2.

The fact they state its a hub implies it can handle more than one USB device. This is what a USB hub is as opposed to a USB port which implies only a single USB device

Does anyone know how to keep a phone call live on the Bluetooth audio system when stopping the engine?
For example: when you arrive and put into Park, press the Stop button the call goes straight to handset - am I missing something simple here - is there a way of keeping accessories active when you want to stop the engine? From all my previous cars this is one of the most basic of features.
                              Thanks in advance...

                                This works for an Auto.
Select any position other than park and turn off the engine.
it will then go into accessories mode, you can then put it in park. Accessories will stay on i think.
                                Found this by accident.
