4wd hi/low select grinding

Hi everyone,

I went down to Perron beach wa this weekend gone. Grwat little camping trip with the young family. First camping trip in the new prado. Car went really well and no no fine dust in the cab from the dirt track which the wife and kids we're happy about.
We went done to the beach (which you can drive on) and select 4low and put it in drive and it started grinding the gears like it wasn't selecting/meshing properly and then did it again from going from low to high. It did select and go in and I then drove in the sand with no probs. any idea why this might have happened. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi Herbs

You can only put the 150 into 4Lo if the car is completely stopped and in Neutral, otherwise it will make noises.

Rookie mistake on my behalf. I haven't owned a new fancy 4wd select switch before only manual hubs and stick. I probably should read up again on how to use properly. I have selected high/low a few times before but maybe I just ballsed it up this time.

Just watch it Herb this what happened to me and I could not get it to go in until the next day, left the car over night.

Hutch- Prado 150 with some TJM Kit.

I did that once when I first got mine but I think I was a bit hasty putting it in gear and didn't wait for it to select properly. It's never done if since but I make sure the light has stopped flashing before putting it in gear and everything is happy.
