Trucks don't change direction any where near as often as a passenger car though.

Now we're talking. Instead of a door or doors we could have that magical material that changes state from solid to flexible when required. Why Toyota hasn't thought of this is beyond me.

Really? I would turn just as many corners or more in the truck then in my Prado. It all depends on where you drive I guess.

        Cheers Andrew

There is talk of the next Altitude having no second fuel tank and spare under the rear as a taster for the Oz Market to see if we will accept the config. So if it gains traction - the next iteration of Prado's may only have a single tank and spare under the rear.

Never understood this issue with swapping indicator stalks or having them on the same side. My Prado and the wife's car (Ford) are on opposite sides, we chop and change all the time. My last manual car had the indicator stalk on the same side as the gear stick. Indictate then change gear, or vice versa. Indicating is a flick of the fingers up or down - it is not a complicated process.

I can live with either door, I tend to think the split barn door is good. The main thing for me is a new power plant! A decent v6 would do me. Other wise my next car will be a 200 for sure.

In this state this is common: "Indicator broken, watch for finger."

That's number 5 in 10 days. Not ideal?

Yeah agreed, its not an issue, it is like anything, the more you do it, the more you get used to it, I swap between 4 cars and a truck week to week and it's easy

I understand however if you jump into a car for the first time and you only have the car for a few days, how it is annoying to get used to.

I came very close to buying a D4D.

The more of these that pop up, the more I feel like a really dodged a bullet.

Remember these are only the ones we hear about. There must be more that don't make it public via forums, etc.

There is a lot more injector problems than major failures but still, it's a risk to calculate.
I'd still own a kdj120 or a kdj150 but there is a risk. Need $$$$ in the bank.
You just can't go by what Toyota dealers tell you, they try & tell me these people/problems are not real & just join up to cause problems.

The dealers still call them "bulletproof".

Struth I'd be pretty annoyed not to have the barn door - it's my kitchen bench as I had a fold down table on my 90 series.

I want more power and more torque, and I want it at the bottom of the rev range, pretty much leaves me with the 200 unless a new 6 cylinder prado comes out.

Dare I say it but the ford ranger might be worth a look

You will be sorry. The way Toyota is letting their quality control and customer service slip is nothing compared to what the locally made...oops.... I mean other fully imported, makes do.

I very nearly bought an Amarok. Not everyones cup of splosh, but worth a look.
