I'm not 100% but I thought the old engines Holden used in their 4x4 were from Isuzu. The new engines are made by Motorini. This looks an awful lot like a cost decision as the current Isuzu engines are arguably superior to the Colarado's. Isuzu uses them in the D-Max and MU-X. Don't be fooled by peak power and torque figures of the Colarado . Both The D4-D and Isuzu 3L engines have flatish curves which are far more 4WD friendly. It's also why they can both make do with 5 speed autos. The Colarado engine is far more peaky. It needs to rev in that peak band, otherwise it's sluggish. This necessitates the extra gear to keep the engine in the "sweet spot". Isuzu will be brining out a smaller capacity Diesel for its range in the 2016 (2.5L) but it will be a twin turbo to avoid the motorini's shortcomings. This new engine is to meet the impending Euro 5 emission standards. It will be interesting to see if Toyota take the same path. The fuel efficiency The new Isuzu is promising is remarkable. The Motorini is also more thirsty than the Prado or MUX in their current forms

HiPower LifePo4 batteries are non flammable and very safe it won't be going under the bonnet as the BMS for them is the key to battery protection and best kept dry. It will be in a toolbox set-up in the rear as part of the fit out . I've killed many a second battery that's been under the bonnet over the years through heat. www.lifepo.com.auLast edited by Sprocketz; 23-05-2014, 08:09 PM.

Getting a little off topic but They will be the Hi Power 100amp cells They are 3.2v each so 4 will give me my 12 volts http://www.hipowergroup.com/show_imgnews.asp?id=408
The benefit of these is you can use down to 80% DOD without any issues and they recover very quickly very good for winching. It's a custom job and not cheap but as I can run the fridge and all accessories of it and it can charge from a solar panel it's a good unit. Pics of its bigger 200amp brother and it's over 3K as you see it... the 100 amp unit will be mid 2K. But you only need to by it once and it's ready to go. I will get mine in a pelican case set-up.
