    Hi.
Ive just bought a new Prado GXL and am loving it. However my iPod classic randomly locks up while playing and has to be rebooted before it will talk to the Prado Sound system again. Is this a Prado software problem. The iPod works fine in any other situation.
    Thanks

I haven't had an issue with either my iPod Nano (Bluetooth or USB) or my iPhone (Bluetooth only)

I'm not sure what is causing the problem however I am curious to know if you have connected Toyota Link to the car yet?
When mine was new, the first time I ran Toyota Link and connected my phone to the car, it downloaded an update. The current version of software I have is DA.30.14 - you can check this under general settings.

Thanks Australian. I checked and I have the same software version as you. I note the smaller flash memory based iPod work but I was hoping to be albe to carry all my collection on the bigger iPod classic. Has anyone got an iPod classic to work with the Prado sound system?

How are you connecting the ipod? Via the USB input or the AUX socket? Using the original cable or a second one?

iPod Classic is pretty old tech and Toyota have the caveat on the website that not all devices will be compatible and some functionality will vary

If I were you I would just use the headphone jack and Aux socket - that way the software is not interacting.

Sorry that didn't help. I'm using a 16GB Thumbdrive with about 14GB of MP3 files. The downside is each time I start the car, the entertainment scans all the files on the drive. As you can imagine with 14GB it takes about 5-6 minutes to scan them all. During this scan cycle it only will play the first album it scans, in my case - the Baby Animals. As brilliant as they are, after the first 50 or so starts they start to wear thin! I wish Toyota had designed the entertainment unit to have the option of a small library file written to the USB drive. Could speed things up considerably. Apart from this short-coming it seems to work reasonably well.

              Thanks for the above suggestions.
I haves an old iPod classic - does anyone know if a newer one would work any better than one about 5 years old. After investing in the car a new iPod is a small additional outlay.
              Thanks

Actually Checkers that is of some help. My iPod Classic is circa 2008 and is 120Gb. Your 160Gb classic may be newer and is possibly different in some way so as to enable it to work OK. I will investigate this further. Thanks.

I have a 160GB Classic in my '14 GLX and it freezes too!
Spoke to dealer and they shrugged their shoulders and pointed to the disclaimer.

I have had a 160 gb classic hooked up in my 150 for about 4 years now and has only ever been taken out when getting a service or something done on the car.
About 3 months before the 2012 GTG the ipod had a melt down. I could not even turn it on. I hooked it up to my desktop and it gave it enough spark to down load new software from apple and install it, It then loaded all of my music on and has not missed a beat since.
Very happy with it as it gives me add free continous music. I do however, carry a flash drive with my music on it, so if the ipod spits the dummy again, when I am in the outback or wherever, I can still play my music.

                        Cheers

I use a usb stick no with music in folders, also note though u cannot use to big of stick for some reason. I use a 8gb as the the first one I plugged in was 32gb and it would not boot up.
