  • PCS Warning

Check PCS System come up yesterday while doing some spirited driving along wet fire trails.

It is still in alarm condition, and seems to have disabled the abs and cruise control. From memory the Hill Start Assist thingy is also gone.
The dash is lit up like a christmas tree. Its a 2012 Kakadu with the combined highway and off road pack. (radar cruise control for on road, and diff lock and mts)

I want to just disconnect the battery to reset any weird computer freakout, but it is 2500km out of warranty and I think I want Toyota to have a look at it?
It wouldn't see my ipod earlier in the trip, but later came good, but apart from that it ran faultless.

    What do you guys think?

There was plenty of water splashing around on the lead up to the problem, is it something simple or sinister?

    Cheers

There is no harm in disconnecting the battery to see if that works, nothing to lose.
I would be having a good look under the car for something obvious like a stick or damage from rocks etc that may have damaged a cable or wiring.

    Or maybe a blown fuse...?

If not then take it to a dealer. They can plug in their diagnostic gear and find the fault in a heart beat.

I can't remember in which thread I read it or what exactly the problem was, but someone else had symptoms like you have now.
Hopefully someone will come along soon and tell you which one.

A stick, or something, ripped out the wiring at plug of the rear LHS wheel sensor.

Is it an expensive wiring loom at $200 plus $59 to diagnose and replace the damaged loom? It's got metal brackets on it. They look expensive themselves

I was pretty happy and didn't feel too ripped off, I have the old loom to repair and have as a spare if ever it happens again.

I too would be checking especially the rear ABS wheel sensors. Mine got hit with a stone and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and all of the systems you mention went out. Do a visual check but any mechanic will have a diagnostic tool to pin it down. If it is a sensor I got one from a wrecker for less than half of the Toyota price.
