  • Cheap navigation option for GXL

I got my first 4WD car last week (Prado GXL MY14)

As most of the people in this forum i'm after a navigation option and so far the options either by using Advanced ICE or Dig options, ...etc.

Coming from an IT background i'm after a cheaper option and i'm thinking of the following solution which "if it worked" should be an added navigation option for less than $100.

The below workaround is an option to mirror my phone on the screen so I can use my google map or any offline map app + all my other phone applications on factory screen unit

1- I need a WiFi mirror box which replicate the phone to any car head unit using AV, price start from ~$60 and upto $300
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-Wifi-...item2c8eede5e4

2- Within the factory screen unit I can see an option called AV but it's always showing as connected, so "I assume" that I can connect the mirror box to factory AV (still require some research)

3- The last thing is to find away to avoid blocking the screen while driving (not sure how yet, but could be like the camry where you just need to cut the brake wire coming in the unit and connected to the body of the unit)

So do you think this is possible?

Mhl-hdmi adapter then into a hdmi component converter. Total cost off ebay for me was around $75 and it allows me to charge at the same time.

I do have USB to HDMI which I use to mirror my phone to my TV ($50 from jbhifi), but how did you manage to connect to the factory screen unit?

RanJ, would love to see a picture of the components you use and how you connect to the factory screen, do you use the usb connection port between the seats ?
