  • Water Issue

    Hi All,

Been a long while since I have posted in this forum but I am hoping some of you may be able to point me in the right direction. Our 2012 Altitude has been running faultlessly and i was cleaning it the other day from a trip to the beach vacuuming all the sand out when i pulled up the mat on the passenger side to find a large wet patch in the carpet.

It hadn't recently rained and we hadn't been off road recently so i was initially confused what this must be. Since doing a bit of researching it may have something to do with the A/C?

Has anyone experienced this and if so how did you rectify. I can take it to the dealer but thought I would ask here tonight before calling them tomorrow.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Could be air con drain pipe has become blocked. Or split.

Thanks for that, is that an easy fix? Where is the best place to enter the pipe with say a coat hanger or should i use a softer cable tie?

You can probably access it from below.
I'd pull the carpet back to get a good look.

The drain comes through the firewall about mid height in the passenger side . Mine was a poor fit through the firewall which needed some Silastic to seal it .

Definately the evaporator box drain tube.

            Two ways to Fix.

            1. Remove carpet to access the rubber pipe and remove pipe from box. Either blockage in rubber hose or in the box. When removing the rubber hose careful as you may fill more of you interior up with water so have some towels handy! Then use a cable tie (as it is soft and plyable to push in the entrance of the evaporator box. Then check the hose and make sure no blockage.

            2. I use compressed air and put it in the tube from underneath the car and gently use compressed air to remove blockage.

Its possibly a leaf so in doing so check your cabin filter.
