MIGALOO_GX, I have a GX 150 aswell and I've just gone out and had a look and it's a speaker.

If it is the one in the middle on top of the dash it is just a plate with dots that look like a speaker grill but it is not. I have a GXL.
I took mine out, drilled the appropriate number of dots out and mounted my UHF radio speaker there, works great..

On the GX there is not speaker just the housing. On the GXL there is a speaker.
Could convert it into a small storage compartment to house sunnies etc.Comment

Not sure with pre 2013 models, but the 2014 Prado with the Multimedia head unit with GPS and JBL 14 speaker system has a centre speaker in the grill that sits above the dash heater vent.
