  • Transmission Temp PID - Android

Not sure if this is the right spot so Mods feel free to move.

After a lot of searching I finally came across a PID that works for the 150 Auto temp courtesy of a mate of mine with a 200. Seems it works on both.
I use the Torque Pro app on my ASUS tablet and added it as a custom PID

    PID :- 21D9

Long name :- transmission temperature (or whatever you want)

Short name :- Trans Temp (again whatever you want)

    degrees :- C

    range :- max 180

There is another line there I think you leave as :- 1

    Formula :- ((((((E*256)+F)*(7/100))-400)/10)-32)*(5/9)
NOTE: There are 6 open brackets at the start

    OBD Header :- 7E1

Not sure of the order of the names range etc but as I am sending from my tablet I don't want to lose this by calling up the app

    Anyway good luck

    Geoff

This works with Torque Pro on my 2012 Prado 150:

    Long Name: Transmission Temperature Pan
    Short Name: TFT Pan
    PID: 2182
    OBD Header: [leave blank]
    Formula: ((((A*256)+B)*0.35-3600)/90)

Long Name: Transmission Temperature Torque Converter
    Short Name: TFT Conv
    PID: 2182
    OBD Header: [leave blank]
    Formula: ((((C*256)+D)*0.35-3600)/90)

I have so far not found a good way of verifying that the values are actually from the correct sensors.
It seems the TFT temperature lags the engine coolant temperature by a few degrees.
In park or neutral, the TC temp is only about 1°C above the pan temp.
In drive, with the car stationary and idling, the TC temp goes up quickly and eventually is about 10°C above the pan temp.

I'd like to get a bit more info from the transmission, e.g. which gear it is in (can't always tell when its in 'drive').
Does anyone have more info on Toyota PIDs?
