3 booster seats

We've got a new 150 GXL and have come across a problem I really wasn't expecting. We've had 3 car seats in it before - 2 Hi-Liner booster seats on the sides and a narrow forward facing one for a 3yr old in the middle. That worked pretty well with 200mm seat belt extenders (the 300mm ones are too long)

Now the 3yr old is 4 so can move into a booster seat - she doesn't really fit into the baby seat anymore. On the weekend we went to put in another Hi-Liner booster seat and... can't see how to get it to fit in the middle. The middle seat belt buckle seems to be well under the middle car seat. Because the booster seats have a flatter base than the baby seats it sits "on top" of the buckle, making the seat wobble.

Has anyone managed to fit 3 car seats across the back of a facelifted 150 GXL? How did you do it?

I'm really disappointed - one of the reasons we moved from a Subaru Outback to the Prado was more space in the back for 3 booster seats... now it looks like they won't fit. I guess I should have checked before we bought it.

Hi Peter,

Good news. The problem is not the $60k car, rather it's the $200 boosters.

We have three boosters across the middle of our '14 GXL, no problems. Sure it's tight, but it works well (with extenders).

Our setup: one by Hi-Liner, plus two by Hipod Bostons.

The Hipods punch above their weight big-time. At the time of purchase they were one of only three CREP five star rated boosters available. Not bad for a Target exclusive model that is currently $45 according to their website ( regular price $80ish)

Sounds too cheap to be good? We have had ours for ten months now and they are standing the punishment just fine, and of course the CREP rating speaks for itself. I would happily recommend.

Phew!! Do you have to put your seats in any particular order? Can the Hi-Liner go in the middle? When I tried that I found the seat belt buckle was under the Hi-Liner, stopping it sitting flat. I can get around the clipping in problems with an extender, as long as the seat itself is stable.

Yeah, I didn't like how the Hi-Liner sat in the middle either. We have ours on the passenger side. I haven't noticed any issues with the Hipod in the middle. It seems to sit well. Good luck!
