I washed my Prado on Sunday, and tonight used a 'waterless' wash / wax and it has come up really nice.

Spray it on, wipe it around, then lightly polish using a couple of micro-fibre cloths? It does all surfaces.

Ate the bugs away instantly on the back of the mirrors.

I also polished the chrome mirrors on my SR5, and turned the chrome into a mirror.

So far, I am impressed with the product, but it is fairly pricey.

There were a couple of people selling it at the United Service Station in Renmark.

I thought bugger it.... I'll give it a go.

Got it for $60 for 2 x bottles and $10 for 3 x microfiber towels.

The Prado was reasonably clean before I applied it, so it didn't take too long.

Brought Megaruis NXT TECH WAX 2.0 it's $47- form SCA & it's easy to apply and turns out great ounce buffed. Soft, smooth glass like surface. I waxed it a few days ago with the Megaruis Canarubba Wax so that would've helped it as well. NU FINISH seems to be a great product as well that Ive used in the past BUT is it a polish or wax?? It says Polish but the applaction is the same as a normal wax they also say it's a "Ounce a year polish" which I'd never do...Anyone else have used Nu Finish?

We have had our Silver Prado since November (new 2014).

Funny you say this... I was in the same boat. Drove the car home from the dealer, wife jumped in and said “is this car second hand!!!”

The next weekend I did a full 2 day car detail by hand.

Interior Plastic was done with Meguiars Cloth & Trim Cleaner
Windows inside and out with Meguiars No Smear Glass Cleaner
Leather Seats and bits done with Meguiars Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner (Will do this every 6months). Also carry in the boot Gold Class rich leather wipes just in case.

Exterior is washed with Mequiars Gold class car wash, then soft buff dry with Chamois
I sealed the paint with Meguiars Ultimate Liquid wax. will be doing this every 12months

Wife jumped in the car after the detail and had a big grin on her face... I got bonus points for my hard work

5 months on with 1 month down the South Coast the water still beads and the bugs comes off effortlessly. The car is easy to clean with a noodle hand mitt that I wash & clean once every 1-2 weeks. Only use a gerni adjustable nozzle with garden hose pressure for panels and med pressure for under the wheel wells and steps using the 90deg undercar nozzle.

I'm very anal about cleaning my cars and I couldn’t be any happier with my regime

Hi there, guys. Really nice thread here. I will use you suggestions too. And what about colour protection? I've never used it, but my friend recommended me one of the brands as http://www.colourshield.com. What is your preference in the field?

I personally have never used a colour protection so cant comment. All my cars I have own were from new and are garaged at home and work so thats why I do what I mentioned. If the car was second hand and the paint was dull or looks aged I would be clay baring it and using a more aggressive approach.
