Heard an unconfirmed rumour from a toyota dealer the new Prado will be 2.8 TD with 3300 kg tow. More KW and torque as well.
Still think a good 100 series would make a better tow car.

You can upgrade the suspension and get an engineer certificate to increase capacity to 3000kg as a mate has done his for towing his caravan.Comment

i looked into the upgrade for towing
and no you cant get it through
i was put onto the main traffic authority head engineer and he said its impossible
you can upgrade a trailer or caravan but not a car
i have heard of people doing it but what he said is you can upgrade the load to 3 tone but not the towing capacity and thats where the difference isComment

The chassis rails are not strong enough on the prado for 3 tones. That's why the hilux has been redesigned with a thicker chassis so it can take it. From the dealer I was toldComment
