  • 2015 Head Unit "upgradable"???

Please be gentle as I am a PradPoint virgin. After picking up a new MY15 GXL in Sydney last week I found this forum. I respectfully declined the dealer offer of $1400 to chip my GXL head unit to accept GPS. I could not understand how it was good value using the same head unit.

Has anyone cracked the firmware and know a reputable person in Sydney who offers this service at realistic price.....

Have a set of 285/50/20 Nitto Terra Graplers to go on, has anyone fitted 20's to a 150 Prado?

    Thanks in advance.

Why would you put 20" rims on a 4WD? There's little enough sidewall with the 18" rims on my Kakadu. Are you sure the 20" will even fit?

Can't answer your question re the head unit as mine's a 2009 model.

Have had this tyre on my 13 Amarok since new 70,000klm's and I like how they sharpen up the drive for road (95%) and have had zero trouble off road in many trips in all conditions. Deflation is a must on loose dry sand and being a 10 ply XL load rated tyre sidewall strength is better than most. 12mm difference in rolling diameter to OEM so they should fit nice like they did on my MY 10 Sr5 as long as I get the offset right.

Have to keep up with the "jones" new Everest comes standard with 20" wheel in top of range model.

Each to his own but I think 20" rims on a Prado looks silly. If you want street bling get a Range Rover.

Tons of people here fit big rims on Prado's too.
I'd guess it depends on use, if used mostly as a highway cruiser, city car with light work and light off road then there is no problem.
Although i do agree that big wheels on the Prado looks bad because the wheel gap is so huge but it's just my opinion. If you like it go for it.

There was another thread on here a while back discussing 20" rims on a Prado, might be worth a read :-
