  • 2014 Rear Door rattles - does yours NOT??!!

Hi I have a Prado 150 2014 Diesel brand new to me done now 30,000km

The back door rattles badly and has been since new, I have removed the jack the tool kit the spare tyre and the tyre cover, Toyota have tried to fix it but it still does it!

Any suggestions, If i lube up the locks an it stops the issue for a day and then its back.

Should have kept the santa fe

I rented a Prado 150 once and i also noticed that it rattled but it was a rental so it was abused.

Luckily mine does not have any issues.

Couple of things that we found:

        - Plastic V shaped locator thing? Ours had space in it when closed allowing it to bounce up and down. Plastic insert actually smashed to pieces at one point and needed replacing. Packed some adhesive foam around the locator to fill the gap which helped a bit.

        - The ball joints on our ram seem loose and make a noise if you grab it and move it up and down.

        - We had another noise form the rear that I could never pinpoint.. one night I took the fridge out, setup the rear seat and had the wife drive so I could try and find it form the back. Noise was gone.. Turned out to be the compressor in the fridge bouncing up and down which apparently is normal..

The ball joints on mine have always seemed loose and have a bit of movement if you grab the ram and jiggle it. Has done since new from January. No rattling inside cabin though.
Only a very slight one which seems to be more from the trim on the back door more than anything. Few business cards jammed into the right spot sorts it out.
