  • Air Con Fan Noise

I've suddenly developed a sound (think dry bearing) coming from my A/C fan. It's only the fan. Noise persists when the A/C button is off.

There's no sign of the noise when I'm out of the car.

I'm assuming I'll need to get in behind the glove box and have a look...

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

So, I pulled out the fan. Couldn't replicate the noise. No obvious signs of issues. Will have to wait till it happens again and look at it a bit harder.

Not sure if I should be concerned with the surface rust on the shaft....

I have had the same issue with mine for some time. I've removed it and cleaned it but the noise still persists.
A new one even from Amayama is around 200 bucks.
Reckon I'll just turn the radio up!

I like your thinking...once Im doing more than 60, its almost impossible to hear anyway...I might bring it up with Toyota at the next service

Had a similar problem with my fan in the dash. Only stopped when I turned it off. The noise was there with the A/C either on or off.

It eventually disappeared, so a possibility of a leaf or some bit of crap was causing the louder noise. It did sound like something was caught inside and banging away with the rotation of the fan blades.
