That’s exactly right and it costs me $578.41 to upgrade to that version and I picked up my prado September 28 2017 with a build date 2017. There upgrade map prices are insane hence why I’m in the process of trying to upgrade my unit.

Slightly at a tangent - but I have just bought and installed a Garmin DashCam 55. In addition to camera recording it has speed camera warnings and various other driver safety alarms. Costs $250 and you can get a free update of speed camera locations for a trial and then $39/year. I get free for life map and firmware updates on a $150 GPS Garmin unit I bought a couple of years ago. My phone does a good job of directions also. I could buy Hema maps for my tablet for $50.
Makes the out of date $500 Toyota updates look ridiculous.

Well I hope that customers would not be that stupid to pay nearly $600 for an already one year old map when as said before Tomtom and Garmin units can be bought for far less with lifetime map and traffic updates included.
Not only have Toyota removed some facilities from the iGO program but they have hidden files that allow owners to "tune" their navigation to their taste.
For instance the sys.txt file which is usually found in the content folder is hidden in the unit. This can be tweaked to change such things as the distance from present position of traffic warnings and even things like the time of day for school zones speed warnings in different states.

Thank you for contacting Toyota and allowing us the opportunity to respond.

Just have a thought. Just like we purchased the car. Car manufacturer cannot stop to providing warranty service if car is service by third party. Same principle, we owned the Prado and we should have right to install what we want as long as the add-on are compatible to the original. Wonder if there is any breach in ACL for car manufacturer to lock the map and restricted owner to purchase new map from the manufacture?2012 V6 Auto VX

These are HERE maps but there is a post suggesting that Tomtom maps will work in iGO as well although I haven't tried one. They well may be the same for all I know.
Where does you unit say iGO maps? It is usually shown in "help" "about" "more" "content" "maps" or something like that.
I expect you can get official free upgrades for your unit for some time? if not there is a forum that has a h@cked version of iGO for AVIC
