Yes what a good idea, how can we organise everyone to do this?

Edit: I don't think this issue is limited to Prado owners, I seem to remember the dealer saying that all Toyota vehicles for the Australian market had the same problem?

Great idea. We need to get everyone to agree to day to send

I also filled out the post-purchase survey to Toyota and have also included the lack of proper maps a big downside. Of course, as others have pointed out, someone has to read those surveys in the first place, which I'm not sure happens (given the number of cars sold, etc...). I'm happy to join a group e-mail or even a postal letter, which may work even better.

My dealer (Frankston Toyota) also said that this affects all recent models, so it's not only Prado - it's everyone with that head unit.

Another gripe I had with them is that there's no way to switch off the school zone icons on the map - you can disable all warnings, but those yellow icons are still there, cluttering up the map. I know where the school zones are, I don't need to see them on the map, covering up street names. They said it's hard-coded into the recent systems, so no way to switch them off.

I was playing with the pairing of my phone this afternoon, and it asked to download the Toyota Link app to my phone. So I did, then it started downloading a software update into the SatNav (which then fell over and failed at 32% download).

Anyone any idea what this does to the system (I have had OS upgrades brick my phone before, so I am cautious about these things...)

              (2) We all report the issue via the owners 'My Toyota' portal
Sounds like a good plan, do you want to co-ordinate/pick date and suggest short text we all send? The more co-ordinated it looks the better chance to get noticed.

My parts department confirmed no new version currently (my Jan 2016 build is SD card 2922) but probably out in 3-6 months time for $300. I think we all agreed that $300 is just plain rude (given Europe seems to get free ones). Excuses about 'that is what we a charged by Where-is' should not be our problem as customers. Perhaps the Sat Nav should be called 'historic maps visualization'.
I would suggest we all raise the issue to http://www.toyota.com.au/email-us?enquiryType=Company on Monday 19th Sept. including the main concerns of:
                1. Out of date maps from new car collection
                2. Infrequent updates
                3. Maps not fully up to date even when new card comes out
                4. $300 for the pleasure (even when car is still very new)
                5. Not listening to Toyota customers

Could we start another thread perhaps in the general section to catch people's attention as many may not have read this one. It needs to have a title that would attract people to read it. Hopefully someone can think of a good title?
I think including a copy of the message to the customer experience centre would help, particularly if it asks questions. In the past I have asked them why it takes two years to "integrate" a map to the vehicle, which was what they used as an excuse. I have also asked why European Japanese and American customers do not have to tolerate such treatment but received no response. Surely they could not ignore multiple requests?

                        • I have found it impossible to contact anyone in Toyota Australia who is high enough in the company to complain directly to. I wrote to senator Muir many months ago, (does he still exist?) and this was the last reply from his office regarding a meeting with a Mr Langridge from Toyota.
This was in April and I am still waiting for a reply!

"When my colleague, Matt Midson, met with Mr Langridge in Canberra during the last sitting period there was a communication of commitment to assist you with your concerns. We will follow up the matter with Toyota, again, and advise of any developments in regards to the navigation system."

Toyota Australia treat their customers with contempt, once they have your money do not expect any ongoing help. Presumably they rely on Toyota's reputation for good vehicles to keep their sales going.

                              • Thanks for the warning, the discs they advertise are as said before for older systems and can easily be copied anyway. I notice that even the crooks can only offer what I assume must be a copy of the card with a 2014 map on an SD card!

I still think we need to email directly people as high in the company as possible. Do these LinkedIn links actually give the person's email address, or is it worth trying say "tony.cramb at toyota dot com dot au" ?
