Hi,
I have a 2010 V6 Kakadu, no mods, everything is stock. I have it for almost a year now. Bought it with 105k on it and now it is 112k. This is my 1st 4WD so don;t really know much
These are the issues i have:
1. the car is struggling going uphill. It seems that it is not or very slow in responding to acceleration. Even if I depress the accelerator pedal fully it takes such a long time to pick up speed and i believe that it does not really pick up speed corresponding to how much i depress the accelerator pedal. This is also evident when coming from full stop on a stop light, takes a long time to pick up. This is in "D" mode. Another example is when merging through to highway e.g. M4, it really takes a while to pick up speed.
2. I also noticed a burning smell after driving especially after driving a long uphill road. Also smell it when i drive through an enclosed garage. Can't really tell if it is due to the break heating up, what is the best way to check this?
Just had the transmission oil change done by Toyota Windsor. They told me that the color of the oil taken out was just a little bit darker compared to the new oil. I was monitoring the ATF temp for a while now and i can see an improvement in the ATF temp after the tranny oil change as it is mostly around 60-65, average temp is around 60 to 75 but sometimes rising to about 85 to 90 when doing uphill. Are the temps about right?
I also reported the sluggishness to toyota several times and they check and could not find any issue (that's what they told me) but after my peristence they said that they reset the Transmission ECU anyway.
There are no indication lights whatsoever showing up e.g. transmission overheat etc...no codes when i do the scan on my scanguage.
any inputs as to what is causing this and what needs to be checked will be very much appreciated.
cheers
