Hi
Little bit of history first... For a few months we have had mice in the Prado "150 series" on and off.. yes its getting a bit past the smelly stage...
I know how to find them and sent them to mouse heaven. I want to know if others have the same issue. My aim is to stop them getting in, not a short term fix like bait, moth balls and napthalene flakes. We have been baiting for months
I have found holes on the under body that leads to inside, a couple of which i recon haven't had plugs put in them since factory, plus one rubber had fallen out in the rear wheel arch, good idea to glue them all in. Don't just plug the hole with silicone, mice can eat it faster than you can eat dinner. the hole Needs to be covered with tin or hard plastic, like perspex or poly sheet... gal tin works a treat used it on old trucks and other vehicle for yrs.
Since plugging these hole we had no mice for 2 weeks, and now they are back, seems as though they were entering a different way right from the start, NOT impressed as we had almost removed the smell.
They have chewed a hole in the cab air filter, which i am not convinced they are entering thru his hole, it doesn't seem to have had traffic.
i checked this filter a few weeks ago and found it to be all good. I will remove the grill on the air intake in a day or 2 to see if they can get into the cab via the air intake. If the air is put on circulate it cuts off the outside world. but if mice were in the vicinity, you were driving the car switched to fresh air, you would then allow the mice other rodents or cratures to enter the cabin.
We like fresh air, keeps the cabin pressurized and dust free and doesn't send you asleep, keeping Co2 levels low.
ps, if mice can enter the car so can snakes... I have seen this
