New to Prado World

Hi All,

I'm Zen and will picking up my 2011 GX Prado this Friday. Upgrading from a 2002 4.8 GU.

Its a 3.0 D4D, has cargo barrier, reverse camera, and ARB bullbar. It has a full service history, 171,000kms and a 12 month warranty.

It is otherwise pretty much standard. Very excited

Any recommended things which are a must do? Should the EGR be blocked?

Look forward to learning about the new rig.

Id get the injector values checked first thing while its under warranty..cheers

I'd look in the service history for when the auto trans fluid was changed(if ever), and if not I would more than likely get that done, especially if you are going to do any towing etc.
I'd also try and find a good mechanic/diesel fitter who knows prados, to do your servicing, and things like EGR blanks etc...or show you what to do.

as for other mods, it depends what you intend doing and where you are planning on going

I will certainly get the injector values checked while under warranty. I will also look if the auto has had the fluid done.

As for servicing and thing like blocking the EGR I will more than likely do that my self, I have always worked on my own cars.

As for mods first thing will be a dual battery set up to run the fridge when we go camping. Then I will go from there I guess....

Welcome Zen.

If the auto has had the fluid done you will have a carefully and well looked after car. Changing the Gearbox oil is not part of the routine maintenance schedule.

I will be sure to check, from the looks of it all the car has been well cared for, never late for a service and in in tip top shape.

It will be great upgrade from my very tired 315,000Kms old GU
